The Uber Eats Insight Team analysed the answers from a survey of thousands of customers about why they order online delivery. The research has shown the reasons why go beyond the simple need to satisfy their hunger.
The top reasons people ordered were to ‘Relax and unwind’ (36%), ‘Enjoy a familiar favourite dish’ (32%), ‘Have something healthy’ (23%) and ‘Treat myself’ (22%).
Through these answers we can define different lenses to look at your menu through. Ask yourself questions like: Which of my current dishes fit these categories? What items can I add to my menu to help satisfy these needs?

- Relax and unwind – Comfort foods that can lift the mood at the end of a long day
- Try something different – in-house favourites customers often miss out on
- Energy boosters – Items full of nutrients to put a skip in their step in the afternoon lull
- Healthy and hearty – Big filling dishes which don’t add to the waistline
- Treat yo’ self – feel-good indulgent treats and sweets
- Familiar favourites – signature dishes which are popular in-store and through delivery
- Celebrate – Large special dishes for celebrating and sharing
