SPARK! Partnering to electrify in Europe

Our SPARK! report outlines Uber’s commitment to electrifying ride-sharing in Europe and how we hope to work with industry and policymakers to help drivers switch to fully electric vehicles (EVs). The report examines the best ways to tackle the financial, logistical, and charging barriers to electrification, especially in underserved urban communities.

Read more about Uber’s plans, and our recommendations for policies to help make the switch to EVs easier for rideshare drivers and the broader public.

“People across Europe are fed up with pollution and congestion. Shared electric transport is key to solving these problems. Uber's commitment to quickly electrify its fleet in major European cities is good news. We’ll be keeping an eye on Uber's progress to clean up their operations, but we'll also need Europe's major cities to show leadership.”

William Todts, Executive Director, Transport & Environment (T&E)

“As the largest mobility platform in Europe, we have an important role to play in tackling climate change and supporting a green recovery. With our responsibilities to drivers, riders, and cities in mind, today we’ve made a series of ambitious commitments to help drive the electrification of our platform across Europe. As we lay out our roadmap to become a zero-emission mobility platform by 2040, Europe will lead the way by delivering meaningful changes over the next 5 years.”
