Vehicle requirements in Argentina

Which car is right for you? Make sure it meets Uber car requirements in your city and remember that you’ll make more money if you keep your costs low.

Your vehicle must-haves

To drive with Uber in Buenos Aires, your vehicle must meet these minimum requirements:

  • Model year 2004 onwards
  • 4 or 5 doors
  • Luggage space
  • Air conditioning
  • Excellent physical and mechanical conditions

Required documents:

  • Driver's license
  • Green, blue or white card (depending on the case)
  • Accident insurance that Uber offers through Seguros SURA, you can access different options that Aon offers at a lower cost than a commercial policy, and protect yourself and your car.

Find the vehicle makes and models that are eligible to drive with Uber in your city.

Requirements for driving with Uber in Mendoza

  • To sign up as a Driver and drive with the Uber app, you need a car that meets the following requirements:

    • Maximum age of 5 years (in the case of an electric vehicle, it can be up to 10 years old)
    • 4 or 5 doors
    • Registered with the Transport Directorate of the Province of Mendoza

    You will also need the following documents:

    • National Identity Document (DNI)
    • National Professional Driving License (minimum subclass D1)
    • Vehicle Identification Card
    • Vehicle Title

    • Proof of Registration with MUM (Unified Monotax Mendoza)
    • MUM Payment Receipt (Unified Monotax Mendoza)
    • Fiscal Compliance Certificate - ATM (Mendoza Tax Administration)
    • Commercial Use Insurance Policy (Civil Liability with coverage of no less than $18,000,000)

    • Vehicle Technical Inspection (VTV)
    • Registration and Inspection Fees.
    • Proof of payment for the following tax codes: 677 (request for a statement of account status), 466 (transport service through the platform), 397 (request for unit approval card), 376 (transport inspection of all services)

    If the Vehicle Title is not in your name, you will also need to provide the following documents depending on your situation:

    If the vehicle owner is your spouse, partner you live with, parent, child, or direct family member:

    • National Identity Document (DNI) of the Vehicle Owner
    • Identification Card for Authorized Drivers
    • Marriage Certificate, Cohabitation Certificate, or Birth Certificate

    If your relationship with the vehicle owner does not fit any of the categories mentioned above, you can choose one of the following options:

    • If you both decide that the vehicle owner will lend you the vehicle through a loan agreement:

      • Identification Card for Authorized Drivers (cédula azul)
      • Loan Agreement (with notarized signatures and registration with ATM).
      • If you are already a registered driver-partner on the Uber platform or are considering registering, you can access significant benefits through Estudio

      • Loan Agreement Retribution Fee: Code 401.
      • Driving authorization issued by a notary
    • If you both decide that the vehicle owner will register you as an employee:

      • National Identity Document (DNI) of the Vehicle Owner
      • Identification Card for Authorized Drivers (cédula azul)
      • Employee Certificate - Registration (AFIP)
      • Form 931
      • Workers' Compensation Insurance (ART)
  • To drive on Uber with a taxi or remis vehicle, you must have the following documentation:

    • Professional National Driving License (at least subclass D1)
    • Vehicle Identification Card (Cédula Verde)
    • Taxi/Remise Identification Credential
    • Front of the insurance policy or coverage certificate

Vehicle Change and Unit Removal

  • The new vehicle must meet the previously mentioned requirements. Additionally, the following documents with the respective information for the new unit must be submitted again:

    • Identification Card for Authorized Drivers (Cédula Azul)
    • Vehicle Identification Card (Cédula Verde)
    • Commercial Use Insurance Policy (Civil Liability with coverage of no less than $18,000,000)
    • Vehicle Technical Inspection (VTV)
    • Registration and Inspection Fees. Codes: 677, 378 (x2 - removal and addition), 397, 376 (in case of arrears).
    • The Vehicle Change Request must be signed at the Uber Service Center.
    • Free of Debt for Fine Collection managed in EMOP.
    • Registration and Inspection Fees. Code 677, 378, 376 (in case of arrears).
    • The Unit Removal Request must be signed at the Uber Service Center.
