Africa’s richest horse race (and biggest party) is here once again, and with this year’s theme being ‘Stars of The Big Screen’, it’s only fitting that you arrive like one! In the spirit of race day we thought we would pass on some Hot Tips for if you’re planning on Ubering to or from The Durban July!

A PERFECT PICKUP

Trying to get picked up or dropped off right around the track can be harder than picking the Main Race winner. We’re asking all drivers to pick up and drop off riders at our Uber Zone on Avondale Road – unless you specifically request otherwise.

A BUSY WEEKEND

Did we mention there’s more than 50,000 people coming into town!? With increased demand surge pricing is a possibility. As always, you’ll be notified of any increase in rates before you request your ride, and you can always use surge drop to get notified when rates go back down.

REQUESTING FROM THE TRACK

When requesting a ride to leave, be aware that if you request from inside the race track your driver won’t know where to meet you. If you’re heading to the Uber Zone then no need to worry as your driver will meet you there, but if you would like to be collected from a different point then remember to move your pin before requesting or give your driver a call to confirm.

SPLIT YOUR FARE

Even if you won big at the race, save that money! Rolling deep is rolling cheap. Get it? Got it? Good.

SAY YOUR NAME, SAY YOUR NAME!

Confirming that you’re in the right Uber is especially important during busy times. Use the App to double-check your driver’s license plate number before you hop in the car. Your driver will ask for your name, too, so let him/her know!

It’s a busy day, so please be patient. You may need to check the app a few times for a car – It’ll be worth it! And PLEASE, no arguments over cars..the app settles that one for you!
