Supporting your goals, on and off the road

This spring, we celebrated an incredible milestone: more than 170 Uber drivers, couriers, and family members earned their college degrees through Uber’s partnership with Arizona State University (ASU).

At a special graduation celebration in Tempe, Arizona, graduates and their families gathered to celebrate years of hard work, sacrifice, and determination. Throughout the event, graduates shared inspiring stories about balancing work, school, and family responsibilities — and how earning a degree is helping open doors to new opportunities and brighter futures.

Since launching the program in 2018,  more than 1,900 drivers, couriers, and their family members have completed  degrees through the Uber Pro + ASU education reward, and more than 10,000 have enrolled in English language and entrepreneurship courses. .

The program was created because drivers and couriers told us they wanted more opportunities to grow their careers, pursue their goals, and create new possibilities for themselves and their families. Today, eligible drivers and couriers can access 100% tuition coverage for online courses through ASU, giving them the flexibility to learn on their own schedule while continuing to earn.

Eligible drivers and couriers can:

  • Earn a degree, or access  ASU’s Career Catalyst programs through ASU online
  • Choose from more than 180 bachelor’s degrees online and CareerCatalyst courses in entrepreneurship or English language learning
  • Transfer the reward to an eligible family member

Whether someone is interested in business, healthcare, technology, entrepreneurship, or continuing their education for the first time in years, the reward was built to help support goals both on and off the road.

For many graduates, the impact goes far beyond a diploma.

One graduate, David Grand, reflected on how the program helped him pursue a lifelong academic goal through ASU’s Thunderbird School of Global Management while continuing to drive on the platform.

“This journey has been nothing short of transformative,” David shared. “What Uber’s leadership has enabled goes far beyond education — it represents a model for how organizations can directly impact lives, careers, families, and long-term societal progress.”

David graduated magna cum laude while maintaining Diamond driver status and described the graduation celebration as an emotional reminder of the power of opportunity and access.

“Listening to the stories from fellow driver partners and witnessing the passion from the Uber and ASU teams left a lasting impression on me,” he said. “This initiative is far bigger than education alone. It is creating future leaders.”

Joseph Biggs shared how the reward transformed opportunities for his family. From February 2021 to February 2026, he completed more than 3,700 trips while helping his daughter pursue her education through the ASU program. During that time, Uber and ASU covered approximately $65,000 in tuition costs for her degree. His daughter, Torie, graduated Summa Cum Laude with a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Reflecting on the journey, he shared:

“For everyone out there grinding, driving, hustling, and sacrificing for their family — keep going. Sometimes the late nights, airport runs, and crazy passengers turn into opportunities bigger than you ever imagined.”

Stories like these are backed by research that shows  what’s possible when flexible work and flexible education come together.

Drivers and couriers are at the heart of everything we do, and we’re proud to celebrate the achievements of this graduating class and everyone pursuing their next chapter.

Congratulations again to all of the graduates! 🎉
