Uber continues to serve Cluj Napoca
The launch in Cluj has been one of the most successful Uber launches in Central and Eastern Europe. Along with our partners, we offered a safe, reliable service to users from Cluj, Bucharest and other 118 cities from all over the world the world. The demand for the Uber service in the first week was four times higher compared to the first week of Uber in Prague, one of the top touristic cities of Europe – thank you Cluj for the most intense week at Uber since we came in Romania!
Uber brings another urban transportation option. An option which Cluj, a city that grows and looks towards the future, needs. Yes, there are private actors with personal interests who would like for things to remain unchanged, at the expense of consumers and the city. Following a few incidents in the recent days, we received questions from both our riders and partner drivers. We are addressing them transparently and we promise that we will continue to serve Cluj Napoca.
What happened in Cluj?
On Sunday night, several Uber partners Uber were intimidated and assaulted by taxi drivers and four of them were fined 25,000 lei. We believe that the way things were conducted raise troubling questions about the legitimacy of the enforcement.
Does Uber support the driver partners in such situation?
