Uber is a great way to be your own boss and make money. Most people are eligible to drive with Uber. Here’s what you need to know if you’re driving in Romania.
Getting Started
If you are 21 or older, you have at least 2 years of valid driving license and want to operate in any of the below cities, continue reading to find out how to drive with Uber or start your own fleet. Uber is available in Bucharest, Cluj, Iasi, Timișoara, Brasov, Constanta, Craiova, Ploiești, Pitesti, Galati si Braila, Oradea, Sibiu, Buzau, Bacau, Valcea, Alba Iulia, Arad, Târgu Mureș, Baia Mare and Târgoviște.

How to get your Driver Certificate
If you meet the above requirements, the first step is to obtain your driver certificate, even if you want to become a driver or start a fleet:
Take the courses of an authorized school and prepare for the exam
Take a medical test for obtaining your professional certification
Exam Taxes
In order to enroll for the exam, you need to pay RON 67 at the post office and the fee of RON 41 after the exam, for collecting the driver certificate.
Check on ARR website your exam date
On your exam date, remember to bring:
You have to go to take the exam but remember that you have to present the following documents for the exam:
- ID card ( original document)
- Exam file. Please ask your school when will you be able to pick it up from them
- The receipt for 67 RON
Request your certificate at your ARR
After passing the exam you will need to request your certificate at your ARR office (after 4 days of passing the exam) with the following documents:
- ID card and Driver license (original documents)
- Exam file + Picture 25/32 mm
- The receipt for 41 RON
ARR releases the Driver Certificate in 2 weeks
Drive under a fleet
If you want to join under a licensed fleet and use your own car or a rented one

- Clean criminal record
- Working contract or Revisal report or Self-declaration
- Driving records
- A driver photo
Add details about car you want to use
If you join in a partner fleet and want to use your own car you must obtain a true copy for your vehicle.
Upload your documents and activate your account
Time for some paperwork. There are some documents we need to see in your account before you start driving. After completing the steps above, you are ready to be active and start earning.
Go online, start earning!
If you’ve completed all the above steps, congratulations! You’re ready to activate your account and start making money with Uber.

- Bank statement in RON
- License for alternative transport
- Working contract or Revisal report or Self-declaration

- Application for an alternative transport authorization:
Application form is available on the website of the Romanian Road Authority ARR, in standardized format, on the ARR website, in the Transport section, Alternative Transport subsection - Copy of Fiscal registration certificate and copy of Certificate of Incorporation:
After their release, the alternative transport operator physically deposits them at the ARR headquarters in the country or municipality where it has its headquarters or domicile - Driver certificate (BOTH PFA AND SRL)
- Transportation manager certificate (only for SRL)
- Tax for Authorization of alternative transportation:
Proof of payment of the 300 RON tax to the treasury ** the payer must be a legal entity and NOT the administrator.
