Licensing process in Poland

What is it about?

New regulations for drivers in Poland came into effect. These changes followed an amendment to the Road Transport Act from May 16, 2019, that started to take effect on January 1, 2021.

• The mobile application can be used for the settlement of trips. A taximeter with proof of legalization is no longer required.
• Entrepreneurs carrying out the transport of passengers via, for example, a mobile application l have to hold a taxi license from January 1, 2021. This license can be obtained without taking the city topography examination.
• Passenger transport intermediaries (Uber) will only be able to transfer orders to entrepreneurs with a taxi license. Such entrepreneurs will need to mark their vehicles appropriately (with a taxi lamp and the livery required by the city).
• Uber Poland sp. z o.o. obtained a license for an intermediary in the transport of passengers, which applies from October 1, 2020.

What are the required documents?

To drive with Uber, you need to have a taxi license (yours if you run a business or one issued for your Partner) 

From January 1, 2021 the documents are necessary to be able to drive with Uber.
