If you’re an Uber driver in Pakistan, Partner Injury Protection can help you with emergency medical treatment expenses and other costs.
You pay nothing
As part of our global commitment to safety we have partnered with Chubb to provide as many driver partners as possible with protection under this program. That’s why Uber is paying for this program.
Your customers are protected too
While on an Uber trip in Pakistan, your passengers are also automatically protected by the injury protection insurance.

- What are the key features of cover?
Partner Injury Protection provides cover for specific events that occur while a Partner is On-Trip. The key features are listed below. For full details please read this information from Chubb.
- Medical cover: If an accident happens On-Trip, this cover reimburses you for necessary medical costs you have incurred following the accident (e.g. X-ray, operations, medicines) up to a capped sum. In addition, this cover provides you with an immediate small lump sum payment to cover your basic medical treatment needs. An ambulance service cost is also available for reimbursement.
- Death and funeral payments: In the unfortunate event that you die as a result of an accident On-Trip, your dependents or heirs will benefit from a lump sum payment. They will also obtain an additional lump sum amount for any incurred Funeral Expenses.
- Permanent Disability payments: In the unfortunate event that you suffer a permanent disability as a result of an accident On-Trip, you will benefit from a lump sum payment. The amount depends on the severity of the disability, as determined by Chubb.
- Daily Payment Benefit (injury): If you are hospitalised for more than 24 hours as a result of an accident that happened On-Trip and are thereafter unable to work because of your injuries, you will receive a daily payment) for up to 30 days whilst you are medically certified by a Doctor as unfit to work.
*Note: All above covers are subject to prescribed conditions and limits, which Uber may amend at its discretion.
- What are the limits of the protection?
Down Small Coverage Coverage Period Limits Medical Cover On-Trip Up to PKR 100,000 reimbursement (in excess of PKR 500) + up to PKR 15,000 reimbursement for ambulance costs. Immediate lump sum payment of PKR 3,000. Death and funeral payment On-Trip PKR 270,000 lump sum + PKR 50,000 for funeral expenses. Permanent Disability payment On-Trip Up to PKR 270,000 lump sum. Daily Payment Benefit (injury) On-Trip For driver partners only: PKR 500/day up to 30 days (following hospitalization for more than 48 hours). - What are the terms & conditions?

- Uber may withdraw, update or modify this insurance at any time in its sole discretion.
- This insurance is procured by Uber at its own discretion and cost.
- Drivers Partners shall not in any way be responsible or liable for any payments or premiums relating to the insurance whatsoever.
- The Driver Partner and Uber acknowledge and agree that the Driver Partner can decide to opt-out from being covered by the Insurance at any time by indicating they are declining the protection of the cover upon notice or request. Declining cover will not affect your ability to use the Uber App.
- Driver Partners are independent contractors. This Insurance does not in any way create an employment relationship or an expectation of employment (including from a labour law, tax law or social security law perspective) between Uber and the Driver Partner.
- Why is Uber doing this?
Down Small Sometimes accidents happen on the road. We want to help you protect yourself against unexpected costs and lost earning opportunities due to accidental injuries sustained while you’re On-Trip. We are proud to be industry leaders with Chubb in being your partner on the road.
- What does today’s announcement mean?
Down Small We have been working closely with Chubb to develop new products in Pakistan. These product offerings are now available to driver partners in Pakistan, and also to riders. The new program launches on the 1st January 2020. Access to protection takes effect on the same day.
- Can all Uber partners get this protection?
Down Small Yes, all Uber driver partners now protected, but you can decline if you prefer (see the next question to find out how).
- I don’t want access to the protection. How do I say “no”?
Down Small It is your decision whether you want this protection or not. You are free to say “no” at any time with no consequences. If you decline, you will no longer be protected by Partner Injury Protection coverage, including help towards emergency medical treatment and lost earning opportunities if you’re in an accident while on an Uber trip. - Where is Injury Protection provided?
Down Small Injury Protection is provided in the following countries where Uber operates Rides. At 1st January 2020 this includes Pakistan, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt.
- Does Injury Protection replace my own commercial vehicle motor insurance?
Down Small No, Partner Injury Protection does not provide commercial vehicle insurance nor is it a substitute for comprehensive vehicle insurance. Please contact your insurer, broker or agent if you have any questions regarding your motor insurance.
- What does “On-Trip” mean? When am I protected?
Down Small You are protected from the moment you accept a trip request, during the trip and through to when the trip ends. Please visit the link below to see the key policy details.
- How do I activate Partner Injury protection for myself?
Down Small You do not need to do anything. You are protected whenever you’re On-Trip using the Uber App as of January 1st 2020.
- What is not covered?
Down Small Like most insurance policies, Injury Protection has some general and cover-specific exclusions. Please read the key policy details and exclusions below.
- How do I claim?
Down Small In the event you’ve been in an accident and think you might have a claim, please submit a claim via one of the following channels:
