Wellington Partner Weekly – 19 March 2016
CubaDupa Festival!
We’re already on track for Uber Wellington’s biggest week ever, and this weekend is the CupaDupa street festival. We’ve got the festival pushing a special code to new riders and we expect demand to be high.
The Festival runs:
Today (Saturday), midday – midnight
Sunday, midday till 5pm.
From now (Saturday) through till 5pm Sunday, the following streets inside the map will be closed.
You can pick up anywhere outside the road closures, but people will be directed to pickup/dropoff zones located at the red markers on the map:
- End of Ghuznee Street
- End of Abel Smith Street
PRO TIP: Text your rider to clarify the pickup location. Most people prefer a text to a call.
We’re live in Christchurch
On Thursday, Uber launched ridesharing in Christchurch! We’re so excited to be expanding into a new city, and will hopefully have more Cantabrians using Uber on their visits to Auckland too.
Our first rider was All Black Israel Dagg, who took a ride with Uber Partner Kirsty, a nurse who is saving for an overseas trip. You can read our announcement post here.
Remember, if you have friends in Christchurch who might want to drive, share your referral code with them to earn $$!
Weather this week
The weather’s looking great this week in Wellington. Even when it’s sunny, we are still seeing lots of surge in the mornings from 6am – 9am – think about getting out on the road in the mornings if you can.
Phoenix game Sunday!
After a big week already with St Patrick’s day, and big demand expected with lots of people in town for the CubaDupa street festival, it’s an awesome weekend to be on the road.
There’s also the Phoenix playing the Glory at Westpac Stadium at 5pm Sunday.
