Make an impact. Earn more fares.
RSVP here for an Auckland session on 27 October or 1 November
uberASSIST is designed to provide additional assistance for members of the community with different accessibility needs.
With uberASSIST, our top driver-partners are invited to opt-in to receive training on the necessary knowledge and safety requirements of people with different accessibility needs. uberASSIST vehicles can accommodate folding wheelchairs, walkers, and collapsible scooters.
The uberASSIST option is now available in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
Note: uberASSIST vehicles do not have wheelchair accessible ramps or lifts.
What is the benefit to me?
uberASSIST is a great way to assist your community and complete additional trips on the Uber platform.
As a driver-partner on uberASSIST, you will still be able to accept uberX trips. This will allow you to receive more requests, and together, we can make a positive impact for those in our community who require an extra hand.
FAQs
1. How are uberASSIST driver-partners trained?
Uber has partnered with BeAccessible who have been essential in developing the training module in order to provide uberASSIST. Partners must complete an in-person facilitated training session.
2. What is the cost of uberASSIST trips?
The fares on uberASSIST are the same as regular uberX trips. You can view the pricing structure at uber.com/cities
3. What vehicles are being used?
Vehicles that are acceptable on uberASSIST are regular uberX vehicles, however we cannot accept some vehicles due to the difficulty in some passengers entering and exiting the vehicle. In general vehicles that are not suitable for uberASSIST are high vehicles (e.g. large 4WD’s or Utes), lowered vehicles or very compact vehicles.
4. How can I become an uberASSIST partner?
To be eligible to be an uberASSIST driver-partner, you must first have completed enough trips to be comfortable with the system and have a high rating. If you are eligible, we’ll invite you along to the next training session.
5. How will riders request an uberASSIST vehicle?
Riders are not able to request an UberASSIST vehicle yet. When we go live with this option, riders will be able to enter a code in the promotions section of the app, to access the uberASSIST vehicle option.
6. How will I know it is an uberASSIST trip?
When the request comes through, you will be able to see that it is an uberASSIST request. See the screenshot below for more information.
