When it comes to ensuring a high-quality experience for both riders and drivers, we’re always shooting for the stars – 5 to be exact!

We take your feedback seriously and so do driver-partners. It helps us ensure awesome Uber experiences for future riders. But a trip with Uber should be a good experience for everyone. That’s why drivers have the opportunity to rate riders using the same 5 star scale.

We’ve put together some great rider tips so you can ride like a pro – with a 5 star rating to match!

How to ride like a 5 Star Pro

Pin It To Win It

  • Take a few seconds to make sure your pin is dropped in the right place – or better yet, enter your pickup address.
  • Double check the pin is on the blue dot by pressing the bullseye icon located on the bottom left corner of your screen.
  • You can also save your most frequent pickup and destination addresses, like your home and work, for future trips.
  • Pro Tip: Enter your destination ahead of time to get your journey started even quicker. And, in case you’re wondering; drivers can’t see your destination before starting your trip.

Please Don’t Pile In

  • Most cars with Uber only fit four riders. Number of seatbelts = number of riders.
  • Driver-partners can refuse a trip with more than four riders.
  • Pro Tip: Travelling in a group? Use the Split Fare feature for an even more affordable trip.

A Little Respect Goes A Long Way

  • Please treat your driver and their vehicle with care. It’s their own personal property.
  • Drivers may choose to deny entry into a vehicle if you have open bottles or food. If in doubt, check with your driver first and please respect their wishes.
  • Pro Tip: Uber is committed to providing a safe ride, and so is your driver. Please do not ask your driver to break any road rules such as illegal U-turns or driving above the speed limit.

Time is Money

  • Driver-partners do everything they can to pick you up in within the ETA; though things like traffic may get in the way from time to time. Please try to return the favour by being ready to hop in your Uber when it arrives.
  • Pro Tip: Let your driver know if you’re running a few minutes late by calling or texting them using Uber’s in-app feature.

Know and Be Known

  • Make sure you add a photograph to your rider profile in the Uber app. This helps driver recognise you when they pick you up.
  • It’s always a good idea to greet your driver by name (and with a smile) at the start of your trip.
  • Pro Tip: Looking for other ways to confirm it’s the right ride? We’ve got you covered! The make, model and license plate of your ride will also appear in the app.
