AUCKLAND CITY LIMITS

It’s going to be a big one Auckland.

Auckland City Limits is coming, tomorrow, Saturday the 19th of March at Western Springs! With 40,000 people expected to attend, we’re expecting huge demand, and this will be a great way to get rides on Saturday.

We have negotiated with the festival for a dedicated Uber area on Old Mill Road. This should make it easier for drivers to do pickups/dropoffs. Please see the map for the best access routes, and note the major road closures that will be in place after 8pm.
ACL
Riders will only be able to get pickups from this area – the rest of the venue will be blacked out, so please keep your pickups and dropoffs in this area.

We expect demand to be highest around midday/early afternoon as people go to the event and then again around 11pm when the festival ends. We will be actively monitoring the situation and will message drivers of any changes.

We’re live in Christchurch

Yesterday, Uber launched ridesharing in Christchurch! We’re so excited to be expanding into a new city, and will hopefully have more Cantabrians using Uber on their visits to Auckland too.

Our first rider was All Black Israel Dagg, who took a ride with Uber Partner Kirsty, a nurse who is saving for an overseas trip. You can read our announcement post here.

Remember, if you have friends in Christchurch who might want to drive, share your referral code with them to earn $$!

Other events this weekend!

Auckland City Limits is not the only the only big event on this weekend. Sunday’s going to be a big day on the road too, starting early with the Colour Run fun-run event, and then the Warriors game in the afternoon!

THE COLOUR RUN

QBE Stadium, Albany

Sunday 8am – 11am

WARRIORS VS STORM

Mt Smart Stadium

Sunday 4pm – 6pm

Weather this week

With lots of rain forescast over the next week, expect commuting times to be even busier than usual! The central city suburbs already have extremely high demand on weekday mornings 6am – 10am (we see lots of surge trips), and with rain, it will likely climb even higher.
