Transit funding, as we’ve seen in recent announcements from the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act (THUD) and other federal bills, is being reduced and transit agencies need the support of their partners in the private sector. As a result, we’re increasing our commitment.

We announced the $1M Uber Transit Innovation Fund in the spring with the aim of supporting up to 20 forward-thinking public transport agencies, local councils, and regional authorities in the UK with up to $50,000 in funding.

We announced the $1M Uber Transit Innovation Fund in the spring with the aim of supporting up to 20 forward-thinking public transport agencies, local councils, and regional authorities in the UK with up to $50,000 in funding.

We received an overwhelming amount of interest from both US and Canadian agencies who are feeling under pressure and looking to solve problems with innovative projects aimed at keeping their communities moving.

Due to the high volume of applications and our ongoing commitment to public transport, we are increasing our initial investment to support more agencies and expanding the fund to include Canadian agencies.

In addition to our first cohort of nine winners, we’re excited to announce an additional 26 Innovation Fund recipients, bringing the total funding awarded to $1.7M

From microtransit in Oregon to food access in Richmond, Virginia, the use cases we received were varied. These agencies serve communities ranging from urban centres to suburban and semi-rural areas, helping to fill gaps in public transport and create stronger, more connected transport networks.

More funding, more impact

To date, the Uber Transit Innovation Fund has granted $1,705,000. But our commitment is far from over.

By the end of the month, we’ll unlock more funding and award additional recipients. For more information on what we do, visit our website.
