Every hour of the day, people use Uber to get from A to B in more than 600 cities worldwide. In the past years, we discovered that the local government, urban architects, city planners and scientist are all monitoring the cities’ commute routes closely and all are trying to find solutions for a better livable city.
For that reason we have developed Uber Movement : a tool that uses Uber data to help city planners and urban architects to make considered decisions about the city we live and work in.
Uber rides take place all over the world. By analyzing these trips over a longer period of time, we can make a reliable estimation of how long it will take to get from A to B. Because Uber is available 24/7, we can analyze circumstances and travel times on different times of the day, differents weeks, months and even years. For example: think about how travel times are influenced by big events such as the Amsterdam Marathon, the Gay Pride or roadblocks and other factors.
This is still a first step in the right direction. Urban architects are facing numerous issues and we’re hoping we can help tackle them together. We’re happy to announce that the Amsterdam region is now part of Uber Movement and that the city’s traffic data is now publicly accessible. For governments, planners and everyone who’s interested.
We’re hoping that Uber Movement will play a role in solving local mobility issues in favor of the city and the people of Amsterdam.
