UberGIVING – Helping Dubliners Give Back

We’re saying adios to February and welcoming in March, along with all it’s springful joy. Here in Uber Dublin, we wanted to help Dubliners do a little good, while also getting into full spring cleaning mode! That’s why we’ve teamed up with our friends at Dublin Simon Community to help you get rid of your unwanted clothing and household goods.

Dublin’s homeless need you now more than ever. With UberGIVING, you’ve got the perfect opportunity to clean out your wardrobe and give back to an amazing charity.

On Saturday February 28, request UberGIVING and donate your clothes to Dublin Simon Community

HOW IT WORKS

1. Today and tomorrow, bag up your clothes and items that you’re willing to donate.
2. Open your Uber app on Saturday, February 28 between 12pm-6pm.
3. Request the ‘GIVING’ option on the bottom of the screen.
4. A car will arrive to pick up your items and drop off your donation to Dublin Simon Community, free of charge.
5. Feel warm and fuzzy all weekend long.

THE DETAILS

All clothing must be bagged for drivers to accept your donation.
Drivers will arrive at your requested pick-up location. Please keep in mind drivers can’t leave vehicles unattended, so we ask that you bring your bagged clothing out to meet your driver when they arrive.

WHAT IS DUBLIN SIMON LOOKING FOR?

• All Clothing (in good condition).
• Accessories: handbags, jewellery, belts, hats, scarves, gloves, sealed cosmetics
• Toiletries (new/unused): toothpaste, shower gel, deodorants, toothbrushes, soaps, shampoo, conditioner, perfume, aftershave, make-up, shaving foam/gel, hair brushes/combs, nail brushes, body lotion, face creams, cotton buds/cotton wool

Since we’ll be coming to you, use this as an opportunity to donate more than a couple of things. Go through your wardrobe to find everything you or your family no longer wear, need or are willing to donate, then add it to the bag – or bags!

Dublin Simon Community always ensure that they are able to provide clothing and other items to help people accessing their services from when they first arrive at the door. Simon provide packs using donations of clothing, toiletries and other items for people staying their emergency accommodation, later in preparation for interviews & work placements and eventually for when people are moving into their own home.

Dublin Simon Community’s Shops also stock their shops with quality goods that can be given to people using their services or sold to raise funds. All items sold in the Charity Shops go directly to Dublin Simon Community Services, so they can continue their work with people experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Dublin, Kildare, Wicklow and Meath.
