The refugee crisis has moved everyone and at Uber we want to do our bit to help too. So today we are launching UberGIVING as part of a pan-European initiative across more than 20 European countries.

On Wednesday, September 9th, between the hours of 12pm and 8pm, Uber will collect items you wish to donate – free of charge – and deliver them to Dublin Calais Refugee Solidarity to help their efforts in supporting thousands of refugees.

How does it work?

  • Open the Uber app at any time during the initiative, and swipe the slider to ‘GIVING’
  • Request a car – completely free of charge – to pick up your donations in Dublin within minutes
  • Donations will be delivered to Dublin Calais Refugee Solidarity and then on to the people who need it most.

We are accepting all goods currently requested by Dublin Calais Refugee Solidarity, which includes: tents, clothes (especially men’s), blankets, wellies, waterproof gear, shoes and personal hygiene items. Please make sure that everything that you want collected is placed together in bags, it will make it much easier for us and the teams at the collection point to get your donations to where they’re needed.

We’re all used to getting a car at the push of a button. Now, we want to use Uber to help refugees in desperate need. As always, none of this would be possible without our amazing partner-drivers.

Thank you for your support!

Your Uber Dublin team
