Staff Scientist, Rider Personalization
About the Role
The Rider team is the centerpiece of the Uber consumer experience, owning the core flagship app used by over 100M+ monthly active users.
The Personalization team is looking for a Staff Scientist who can help us innovate on our AIML efforts and tackle the next frontier of challenges in ranking & recommender systems.
As a Scientist, you will leverage your machine learning expertise to transform our homescreen feed, help grow the cross-platform business, and ultimately improve user satisfaction through one of Uber's most impactful channels.
What the Candidate Will Need / Bonus Points
What You Will Do
- Play a tech lead role in framing cross-line-of-business optimizations and architecting novel ML solutions
- Prototype these solutions using Uber's internal ML model development tools
- Influence and align engineering & product on the AIML roadmap for homescreen ranking
- Help identify system-wide improvements to Uber Rider ranking and recommendations, including adoption of the latest technologies in ranking and recsys
Basic Qualifications
- Strong background in designing ML systems for ranking and recommendation
- Ability to set up multi-objective optimizations that trade off the needs of different lines of businesses
- Comfortable with high degrees of complexity and ambiguity
- Deep experience in large-scale consumer tech
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of latest innovations in ranking and recsys including transformer architecture
- Understanding of consumer platform businesses
For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$216,000 per year - USD$240,000 per year.
You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in a 401(k) plan.
