Software Engineer – Platform Security

Security Engineer, Engineering
in Amsterdam, Netherlands

About the Team

The Platform Security team builds the core security infrastructure that powers and protects our products at scale. We focus on creating robust, automated, and scalable security services that enable secure development, authentication, and communication across our platforms. Our mission is to secure sensitive data and ensure seamless access and identity management through well-designed, foundational security systems.

We work on high-impact, backend services—ranging from service identity and secrets management to automated certificate lifecycle and secure service-to-service communication. As part of the team, you’ll be contributing to infrastructure that underpins secure operations across the company.

About the Role

As a Software Engineer on the Platform Security team, you will help design, build, and scale backend systems that power our internal security infrastructure. You’ll collaborate closely with senior engineers, product managers, and security professionals to develop solutions that enable automation, reliability, and secure-by-default practices.

This role is ideal for engineers who are passionate about infrastructure security, distributed systems, and automation. You’ll have the opportunity to work across cloud and on-prem environments, gaining experience in security domains like PKI, secrets management, and identity services, with room to grow your technical depth and impact.

What You’ll Do

  • Contribute to the design and development of secure, scalable backend services used across internal systems and teams.

  • Build tools and services for identity management, secrets handling, and service authentication.

  • Implement automation for certificate lifecycle management and other security workflows.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security capabilities across cloud and hybrid infrastructure (AWS, GCP, on-prem).

  • Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and on-call rotations to support a reliable and secure infrastructure.

  • Continuously improve existing systems and adopt best practices in infrastructure security.

What You’ll Need

  • 4+ years of experience in backend software engineering, preferably in platform or infrastructure teams.

  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Go, Python, Java).

  • Solid understanding of backend systems, APIs, and distributed systems design.

  • Experience working with cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure) and infrastructure components.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.

  • Familiarity with security best practices in service authentication, access control, and data protection.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with platform security like PKI systems, secrets management, or identity frameworks.

  • Exposure to infrastructure-as-code and automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, etc.).

  • Understanding of secure communication protocols (e.g., TLS, mTLS, OAuth).

  • Familiarity with DevOps tooling and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Interest in growing into a technical leadership role over time.

Why Join Us?

  • Build core security infrastructure used across the company and beyond.

  • Learn from experienced engineers and security professionals in a supportive, fast-moving environment.

  • Make a direct impact on the reliability and safety of systems used at the global scale.

  • Grow your skills in backend engineering, distributed systems, and infrastructure security.
