Senior Central Operations Manager, Marketplace, Expansion
About the Team
The EMEA Mobility Central Operations team, in close partnership with Regional teams, shapes the vision, strategy, and execution of Uber’s Mobility operations across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). Operations is at the heart of our business, ensuring seamless experiences for our riders and driver partners while driving the growth of Uber’s platform. Central Operations consists of five verticals Rider Operations, Driver Operations, Marketplace, Business Operations and Small Cities Expansion.
The Expansion team is focused on the scalable launch and management of all long-tail cities. This is achieved through a new operational model that is lean, efficient, and competitive, allowing the team to scale all essential marketplace management, driver growth (both local and global), and rider growth levers. The team directly manages operations and is accountable for the performance of all markets within its scope.
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Central Operations Manager to join the Marketplace team and form the bridge with the Expansion team. This role requires a combination of leadership, deep understanding of marketplace dynamics, analytical problem solving, technical skills, stakeholder engagement and project management as well as a #gogetit attitude and eagerness to learn.
What the Candidate Will Do
You’ll be directly involved in building scaled marketplace management tools, processes and frameworks that will help drive the Uber topline growth by hitting their GBs/growth targets within the financial guardrails. You will have an impact on Uber Operations in hundreds of cities within 50+ markets globally, through:
- Incentive Spend management - You will help us build frameworks, decision making logics & algorithms to manage and deploy rider and driver incentives efficiently at scale (e.g. improve and/or build budget allocation algorithm)
- Proactive Pricing management - You will build scalable tools and frameworks to analyze pricing, competition and marketplace data to identify and recommend pricing opportunities that drive business growth. You will do that by building and improving existing tooling that will efficiently generate these insights and execute price changes at scale (e.g. further improve the already existing Small Cities pricing model)
- Collaborate on Product Innovation - You will source & build business cases, support the product development by partnering with the HQ product & Engineering teams. You’ll also test and scale products that speed-up and/or facilitate scaled cities management / scaled cities launches globally.
- Experiment and Innovate - Design, run and analyze experiments to explore new approaches and drive innovation in our Small Cities Marketplace operations.
- Collaborate with Local Operations Teams - You’ll work closely with subregional & local teams to understand market dynamics, implement configurations, and ensure seamless execution of initiatives.
- Monitor and Optimize Rollouts - Lead the thinking around and implementation of improved frameworks and processes, while continuously refining for efficiency and scalability
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years in an analytical role such as Data Analytics, Data Science, Consulting, or Tech Operations.
- Strong undergraduate degree, ideally in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics or similar
- Deep understanding of marketplace dynamics and experienced in identifying, building and improving operational processes
- Have a track record of autonomously developing new frameworks for complex problems where no standards exist today and engages other experts for feedback and integrates it effectively
- Strong experience interpreting data (SQL experience is a must, experience with automation and Python a big plus)
- Stakeholder management skills: Experience working with senior partners and cross-functional teams in large organizations to develop and operationalize initiatives
