Sr Strategy & Planning Analyst
About the Role
The Retail team is Uber Eats’ “start-up within a start-up”, accountable for scaling Uber Eats’ new categories including Grocery, Convenience, Alcohol, Pet, Electronics among many others. As part of the continued push into non-restaurant categories, the Retail team is looking for an Analytics Lead to deliver deep, strategic analysis across a range of different topics.
You’ll work closely with our retailer-facing team to identify growth opportunities exclusively within our top retail partners, conduct in-depth performance analysis of assigned accounts, and develop a comprehensive understanding of our partners’ businesses and the industry. You will also be expected to have strong communication and presentation skills to present to both internal and external teams. Serve as the regional expert in Uber’s data capabilities for retailers, working with global teams to further identify data opportunities.
By leveraging your analytical mindset, business acumen, and industry knowledge, you will proactively generate actionable insights, evaluate initiative performance, and provide structured, data-driven recommendations to our retailer-facing team.
This role is ideal for someone with experience in E-commerce, Retail, or CPG, a proven track record in business analytics, consulting, operations, or partner management, and strong collaboration and communication skills.
The Impact You'll Have
Lead our key retail partner analytics and insights efforts
- Deliver Strategic Insights - Provide data-driven recommendations to support joint business planning with key merchants, driving sustainable growth strategies for both Uber and our partners.
- Identify Growth Opportunities - Analyse business trends to uncover new opportunities, acting as a thought leader and strategic partner to the Commercial team in boosting sales and profitability across our multi-vertical portfolio.
- Evaluate Initiative Impact - Assess the effectiveness of various growth initiatives—including promotions, advertising, pricing, and product strategies—and offer clear guidance on their impact on merchant performance.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally - Partner closely with strategy, operations, merchandising, last-mile, and other teams to implement best practices that accelerate merchant growth and development.
Lead our key retail partner reporting and tooling improvement efforts
- Design and own reporting dashboards - Specifically for our key retail partners, you will own the reporting, dashboards, and analytical tools
- Own the forecast for the key retail partners- leveraging an array of internal and external inputs to ensure we achieve ambitious commercial targets and drive operational efficiency.
The Experience You'll Bring
- Proven track record: you’ll have 7+ years of consulting / business intelligence / Retail Analytics / CPG or related experience; some high-growth operations or startup experience is strongly preferred.
- Advanced analytical and data skills, including strong proficiency in SQL, spreadsheet-based modeling, and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau)
- Proven ability to structure ambiguous problems, synthesize insights, and drive data-backed recommendations
- Strong communication skills: You are a clear and concise communicator with the ability to synthesise a lot of information quickly, highlight the key take-aways, and disseminate actionable insights.
- Balance of attention to detail with swift execution: We need to do things quickly but we need to do them well. Balancing those can be challenging, and this should be a strength.
- Ability to thrive in ambiguity: Launching a new business model isn’t easy, and there often isn’t an existing plan for you to follow. You are able to manage and deliver end-to-end projects autonomously.
- MBA, BS or Comm degree from a top university.
Bonus Points
- Proficiency in Python, R, or similar analytical tools
- Experience applying AI-driven or advanced analytical techniques to operational decision-making
