Associate Program Manager, Strategic Sourcing
About the Role:
As a Program Manager in the Strategic Sourcing Center of Excellence, you will manage high-complexity end-to-end programs that standardize how Uber sources and manages external spend. We are looking for an execution-obsessed, highly organized individual contributor who is excited about making our teams more efficient and effective. You are not just a project manager; you are a Sourcing subject matter expert who understands the nuances of procurement, from spend analytics and savings tracking to stakeholder influencing.
In this role, you will partner with our Marketing sourcing team to provide the sourcing intelligence (e.g., agency landscapes, media spend, and fee structures) needed to shape their category strategies. You will work closely with our Data Analytics team to translate complex spend data into marketing-specific KPIs and executive-level reports that drive meaningful business decisions. You will take ownership of the project lifecycle from ideation to launch, seeing around corners to mitigate risks, solving for scale, and creating the operational rhythms that keep Sourcing teams running like well-oiled machines.
What You’ll Do
- End-to-End Execution: Own the delivery of complex, cross-functional projects from inception to completion. You will define project scopes, build robust project plans, manage resource allocation, and ensure on-time delivery.
- Pipeline & Performance Management: Own the end-to-end tracking of the Sourcing initiative pipeline. You will be responsible for monitoring the organization's savings, identifying initiatives at risk of missing targets, and flagging them to leadership with proposed mitigation plans.
- Stakeholder Alignment: Serve as the central point of contact for Marketing Sourcing. You will provide the sourcing intelligence foundation to help sourcing owners develop robust commodity strategies.You will build strong relationships across diverse teams, ensuring everyone is aligned on goals, dependencies, and timelines.
- Process Optimization: Identify bottlenecks and operational inefficiencies within your project streams. Design and implement lightweight, scalable processes that improve team velocity and focus using AI and automations.
- Risk Management & Mitigation: Proactively look around corners to identify potential roadblocks. You will surface risks early to leadership and come to the table with actionable mitigation strategies.
- Data-Driven Tracking: Define, monitor, and report on key project metrics and milestones. You will create executive-friendly dashboards and status reports that provide a clear "single source of truth”.
- Communication: Drive regular, transparent communication out to stakeholders and leadership, translating highly technical or complex progress into easily digestible updates.
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in project management, program management, or a related operational role.
- Minimum of 1 year of sourcing or procurement experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical Proficiency: Experience navigating and interpreting data as well as developing analysis and modelling
Solid understanding of strategic sourcing fundamentals, including spend analytics, supplier landscapes, and cost savings, as well as a solid understanding of marketing and advertising. Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, CSM, or Agile/Scrum certifications) is a bonus!
Experience with Coupa, ServiceNow, or similar. Familiarity with Python or SQL is a plus.
- A forward-thinking mindset regarding AI; you should have a baseline understanding of how to prompt LLMs and identify where AI can drive procurement efficiency.
- Experience managing complex, cross-functional programs. You are highly disciplined in your approach to documentation and status tracking. You bring an ownership mindset and be a self-starter for the projects you manage.
- Marketing/Advertising: Prior experience in Marketing/Advertising procurement or Marketing/Advertising. Familiarity with agency fee structures, media buying transparency, and production workflows is a significant plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills and highly collaborative with both business leaders and sourcing groups, with a proven ability to build relationships, gain credibility and trust, and partner across functions to build consensus.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Confidence and flexibility to operate in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment. Curiosity, along with the ability to spot issues, get to the heart of a matter, and articulate plans to address them.
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$118,000 per year - USD$131,000 per year.
