Strategy & Planning Analyst

Local Operations, Operations
in Randburg, South Africa

About the Role

The Strategy & Planning (S&P) team acts as the "connective tissue" between global strategy and regional execution, driving sustainable growth across our African markets through rigorous, data-first methodologies. As an Analyst, you will support high-impact projects ranging from competitive deep-dives to building the frameworks required to capitalize on growth opportunities. Your work will provide the analytical foundation that shapes our unit economics and defines how we scale our footprint across the region.

What you'll do

  • Insights Generation: Maintain and optimize advanced SQL queries to extract intelligence from massive datasets and own the reporting dashboards that track business health.
  • Support Strategic Roadmaps: Translate marketplace data into clear analytical inputs for 3–12 month blueprints, helping prioritise workstreams based on ROI.
  • Perform Competitive Analysis: Conduct robust deep-dives into market share and user behaviour to identify structural inefficiencies and new growth opportunities.
  • Draft Data Narratives: Synthesise complex findings into high-impact visualisations and memo-style summaries that clarify trends for the Lead and regional stakeholders.

What you'll need

  • Experience: 2–4 years in a highly quantitative or strategic role (e.g. Banking, Management Consulting, or Corporate Strategy).
  • Technical Literacy: Advanced SQL is compulsory. You must be able to navigate massive, complex data structures to perform independent root-cause analysis and build automated dashboards.
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative or business-related field (e.g. Engineering, Science, Mathematics, or Economics).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strategy & Implementation: Experience moving from raw datasets to actionable strategic roadmaps, demonstrating a clear ability to identify the "what" and support the "how."
  • Analytical Storytelling: Ability to synthesise "messy" market data into clean, concise memos and visualisations that support regional leadership decision-making.
  • Governance: Experience maintaining standardised reporting frameworks and KPIs to ensure regional performance is accurately tracked against global standards.
  • Regional Nuance: A strong interest in or prior exposure to the operational landscapes of Africa, including localised growth levers and consumer behaviour.
  • Learning Agility (Teachable): A proven "self-starter" mindset with the ability to rapidly upskill in non-technical domains. You should be eager to move beyond the "how" of data extraction to the "why" of strategic implementation. We are looking for a candidate who is ready to be coached on how to "own the strategy."
