Safety Operations Manager, Identity
About the Role
We are seeking an analytically-minded, organized, and motivated individual to join our Americas Safety Operations - Identity team to focus on a wide range of sophisticated safety issues! The team is responsible for developing functional business strategies within the identity scope, such as how we collect identity information, discover new fraud patterns, and identify operational weaknesses. We balance improving or innovating processes with setting and delivering on core goals to meet business needs.
This role calls for a combination of deep operational skills to get great work done, the innovation and creative thinking that's required to challenge the status quo, and the emotional intelligence required to come to a consensus with a team of cross-functional and global stakeholders. You should be comfortable in an "all hands on deck" environment, love solving problems, thrive in a hyper-growth culture, and above all be passionate about the safety of people and the cities in which we operate.
Working with teams across the globe, you'll need excellent stakeholder management, organizational, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to clearly communicate and present information to seek buy-in in a fast-changing environment.

- Identify operational and structural weaknesses and design mitigating strategies and controls in collaboration with Product, Data Science, and other cross-functional teams
- Take an analytical approach towards issue identification, root cause analysis, understanding of safety controls performance
- Work to continuously improve and innovate our operations including, testing new fraud detection signals and processes
- Build, maintain, communicate, and present detailed reporting on processes and key metrics
- Present models, findings and insights to senior management to drive business decisions
- Collaborate with other Operations teams, as well as policy, legal, marketing, product, and other functions, to ensure that insights inform broader critical initiatives
- This role demands strong stakeholder and project management skills, as well as the ability to both plan and execute projects of varying time horizons and scope with minimal guidance
- Think strategically about long-term scale and adaptability of identity programs, utilizing cross-functional expertise internally as well as external industry-leading practices
---- Basic Qualifications ----
- A minimum of 2 years of industry or consulting experience in identity verification, fraud or screenings, or related consulting experience in project or program management, or global operations, or related fields
- Data-first mindset with excellent Google Sheets/Excel data management skills
- Bachelor's degree

- SQL proficiency
- Excellent analytical skills, and demonstrated success in uncovering data to inform risk-mitigating and customer-oriented decisions
- Ability to design processes in a fast paced environment without a prescribed template
- Ability to drive consensus and actionable results across highly cross-functional teams
- Strong program and project management skills with focus on KPI setting and tracking
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; Influential with great presentation skills and the ability to tell clear, compelling stories out of complex issues and analysis
- Experience managing cross-functional projects and stakeholders
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects under competing pressures
- Must be a flexible self-starter who is comfortable with rapid changes and a fast-paced environment
- Passion for Safety as it relates to all parties interacting with the Uber platform
- MBA or Master's degree a plus
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$106,000 per year - USD$118,000 per year.
You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in a 401(k) plan.
