Sales Account Executive, SMB, Uber Eats

Sales, Sales & Account Management
in Johannesburg, South Africa

About the Role

Uber Eats is looking for a high-energy, resilient, and strategic SMB Account Executive to join our team in South Africa. This role is about more than just selling a platform; it’s about empowering local restaurateurs and small business owners to thrive in the digital economy.

As an SMB Account Executive, you are the face of Uber Eats to the vibrant local restaurant scene across South Africa. Your mission is to identify, pitch, and onboard top-tier Small and Medium-sized Businesses (SMBs) to the Uber Eats platform. You will manage the full sales cycle—from cold-calling and prospecting to negotiating and closing deals. This is a fast-paced, high-volume role that requires a "hunter" mentality and a deep passion for the South African food and beverage industry.

What You'll Do

  • Full-Cycle Sales: Own the entire sales process from initial outreach and lead generation to contract signing and hand-off.
  • Strategic Prospecting: Identify high-potential restaurant partners that will add value to the Uber Eats marketplace.
  • Value Proposition: Effectively communicate how Uber Eats can drive incremental revenue and brand awareness for small businesses.
  • Negotiation: Navigate complex conversations around commission rates, marketing spend, and operational requirements.
  • Market Analysis: Stay ahead of local trends and competitor activity to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Onboarding and Account Management teams to ensure a seamless transition for new partners.

What You'll Need

  • Experience: 1–3 years of professional experience in sales, account management, or business development.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Local Market Knowledge: Deep understanding of the South African retail/restaurant landscape (Johannesburg, Cape Town, or Durban specifically).
  • Communication: Fluent in English with exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Tech Savvy: Proficiency in CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) and the Google Workspace suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry Background: Prior experience in SaaS, FoodTech, or high-growth tech startups.
  • Multilingualism: Proficiency in other local languages (e.g., isiZulu, isiXhosa, or Afrikaans) is a significant advantage.
  • Proven Track Record: Experience consistently exceeding sales targets and KPIs in a competitive environment.
  • Soft Skills: High emotional intelligence (EQ) and the ability to build rapport quickly with diverse business owners.
  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a "startup" culture within a large global organization.
