Strategy & Planning Associate, Uber Direct APAC
About the Role
Uber Direct is one of Uber’s fastest-growing businesses, enabling merchants to power last-mile delivery from their own channels across grocery, retail, e-commerce, and more. Uber Direct empowers merchants with best-in-class delivery, and is rapidly transforming the ways in which Uber connects the world.
We’re hiring a Strategy & Planning Associate for Uber Direct in APAC, focused on our core markets in the region: Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Taiwan. This role will form part of the Global Direct team, reporting to the APAC Regional S&P lead, whilst serving as a thought partner to APAC Direct leadership, Ops and Commercial teams.
This role owns how regional performance is measured, understood, and communicated - turning complex data into clear narratives that drive decisions across the business. The successful candidate must feel confident working with data and conducting analysis to build a clear picture of risks, opportunities and ongoing business performance. This is a high-ownership, highly cross-functional role for someone who thrives in ambiguity and operates comfortably at the intersection of data, strategy, and executive storytelling.
Impact in Role:
- Drive our business intelligence function. You will build and maintain our sources of truth for performance tracking, with a particular focus on ANZ. You will use SQL and analytical proficiency to visualise data, dive deep into problems, identify trends and present your findings as succinct, actionable insights
- Support leadership to answer strategic questions. You will work closely with the APAC S&P Lead and Country GMs to solve the critical questions for the APAC region (e.g. which categories should we lean into harder, and how should we position ourselves in each APAC market?). You will be an unbiased thought partner, to help GMs craft the strategy, flag risks and opportunities early, and foster alignment with Global priorities
- Drive robust governance. You will develop and coordinate governance and accountability models to ensure that teams are on track to achieve goals and course correct as needed, including actively tracking and reporting results at a country and regional level
- Support regional planning. As part of the company-wide strategic planning process, you will support the APAC S&P Lead in working with APAC Country leads to set strategic priorities, determine the right metrics and targets to quantify those priorities, translate them into concrete projects & work closely with teams across the region to deliver on execution
- Be a resourceful multi-tasker, supporting teams across the region. You'll be the go-to person for many key organisational initiatives requiring cross functional collaboration
Basic Qualifications
- Proven track record: 3+ years of professional work experience in strategy consulting, banking, engineering or similar industries, using data to drive business decisions.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills: A true owner mentality and passion about solving zero-to-one challenges and standing up new products & revenue streams from scratch.
- SQL proficiency: Experience using SQL for data analysis in a professional environment.
- Strong communication skills: You are a clear and concise communicator with the ability to synthesise a lot of information quickly, highlight the key take-aways, and disseminate actionable insights.
---- Preferred Qualifications ----
- Ability to thrive in ambiguity: Launching a new business model isn’t easy, and there often isn’t an existing plan for you to follow. You are able to manage and deliver end-to-end projects autonomously.
- Eagerness to learn: The Direct S&P function works with every team in the business and across a wide range of topics. You will thrive if you are keen to learn widely and build confidence working in any domain and with any stakeholder.
