About the Team

At Uber, we #GoGetIt, you’ll get to work on challenging problems that require deep strategic thinking to deliver for our customers and make magic in the Uber marketplace. Your work will impact customers here and globally. It could involve building a strategy for targeting high value customers, building a more sustainable future for mobility, to discovering the best way to increase rider engagement through our membership program. This isn’t about cutting and pasting from a playbook, it’s about writing the playbook.

The candidate will join the APAC Mobility Strategy & Planning team as the regional lead for Australia & New Zealand markets. He/she will play the role of the custodian of longer-term and sustainable growth - define the growth pathway for the next 1-5 years, steering the business with the GM and cross-functional heads as part of the leadership team, and activating / accelerating new growth horizons.

The Impact You'll Have

  • Outside-in Intelligence - fuel the business with external insights / perspectives (e.g. macro, market, competition) to enable smarter decisions and expansive thinking
  • Top-down Strategies - provide clarity and/or facilitate trade-offs / choices across goals & aspirations, where to play, how to win and resources or capabilities required
  • Planning & Governance - anchor operating rhythm through leading annual planning processes, defining / tracking OKRs, facilitating reporting, governance and regular cadences
  • Adjacent & New Growth - seed the future with new growth bets / verticals and inorganic play / M&As

The Experience You'll Bring

  • 10+ years of strategy consulting, advisory, or related experience; You have been working in corporate strategic planning or an engagement manager or above at a top tier consulting firm or similar level experience. Some high-growth operations or startup experience is strongly preferred. -- if you think your background brings something to the table, we want to hear from you!
  • Highly developed business judgement and critical thinking skills with the ability to use data to quickly to identify the highest value priorities and develop a strategy to pursue them
  • Clear communicator. You are a clear and concise communicator with the ability to synthesise a lot of information quickly, develop a cohesive narrative, highlight the key take-aways, and disseminate actionable insights
  • Ability to work with remote teams (and external stakeholders) and across time zones to develop strategies, meet deadlines, and foster a cohesive and creative work environment.
  • Balance attention to detail with swift execution - we need to do things quickly, and we need to do them well. Balancing those can be challenging, and this should be a strength.
  • Analytical rigour - We use data to inform our decisions; you’ll quickly identify what data you need to solve a problem and how to analyse it to get to the answer. You’ll have experience dealing with complex operational and financial data sets, deriving insights and checking against what you see in the real-world.
  • Explorer - the ability to self-serve, investigate and get the data we require will make you much more effective in this role. Self-starter attitude is a must!
  • Be incredibly truth-seeking with information, set a high bar for the team to think boldly and creatively, communicate frequently and with high quality; then funnel that energy into concrete processes and execution plans
  • A “driver” personality - biased toward action, great collaborator and master disambiguator/simplifier - constantly pushing toward clarity and delivery.
  • Grittiness. You never hesitate to roll up your sleeves and tackle something hands-on, you persevere when others fall away.

Offices continue to be central to collaboration and Uber's cultural identity. Unless formally approved to work fully remotely, Uber expects employees to spend at least half of their work time in their assigned office.
