Software Engineer II (AdTech - Java/Go)About the Team/RoleUber is spending a significant amount of marketing budget on advertising each year, to attract and engage our customers - Riders, Drivers, Couriers, and Eaters. We do this across channels ranging from TV ads and posters to digital advertising through mobile and web channels.The AdTech team is building the technology capabilities to scale this advertising capability, using data to drive intelligent optimization and automation of the process. We work from the beginning of the loop: starting with budgeting and spend allocation across the world using models to the granular optimization of what content to show to whom and when.The team is currently building systems to manage and partially automate marketing spending. We leverage outstanding machine learning techniques to drive sign-ups and maximize the efficiency of billion-dollar advertising budgets. Join the team if you are interested in building Uber's next-gen Marketing optimization engine.What You'll Do1.  Build tooling to allow marketers to spend marketing budgets across channels from a single campaign manager portal.2.  Work on systems to track and report on ad spend return on investment.3.  Build systems to automate ad operations.4.  Work on systems that will use advanced machine learning techniques to optimize spending within different channels.5.  Keep the bar high on sustainable engineering by following best engineering practices, producing best in class of code, documentation, testing and monitoring.What You'll Need1.  Proven knowledge of Java 8+ or Golang is a must-have with at least 2 years of experience in either.2.  4 years of industry experience is required3.  Architecture skills: Knowledge of data structures and an eye for architecture. You can discuss the tradeoff between architectural choices, both on a theoretical level and on an applied level.4.  High coding standards (TDD, Clean Code)5.  Proven track record within a production environment6.  A phenomenal teammate approach: You believe that you can achieve more on a team - that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. You rely on others' feedback for continuous improvement.7.  Understanding business and design requirements, whether you're working on an API used by other developers, an internal tool consumed by our operation teams, or a feature used by millions of customers, your attention to detail leads to a delightful user experience.8.  Experience querying data using SQL9.  AdTech experience is a huge plus
