Software Engineer II

About the Role

We are seeking a strong and passionate software engineer with experience in large scale system implementation, with a focus on building complex data products. The candidate must be able to design and drive large projects from inception to production. The right person will work with stakeholders, analysts, scientists to gather requirements and translate them into a data engineering roadmap. Must be a great communicator, and team player

What you'll do:

1. Design, develop, and deploy systems/platform/algorithms to solve complex business problems and improve product performance
2. Collaborate with applied/data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to understand requirements, define project goals, and deliver high-quality platform solutions
3. Deliver and review technical design, code and documentation
4. Drive ongoing efficiency and reliability improvements through design and automation: availability, performance, scaling, monitoring and capacity.
5. Tackle sophisticated technical challenges involving multiple technology stacks
6. Mentor and support your interns/fellow team members
7. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive best practices in data management, data quality, and service deployment
8. Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in software engineering

What you'll need:

1. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
2. 2+ years of experience in in professional software development experience, developing and deploying systems in production environments
3. Experience in developer tooling or developer productivity spaces
4. Good Backend experience with expertise in any of the languages such as Go, Java, or Python.
5. Experience using metrics to measure and improve developer experience.

Bonus if:

1. Master's or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
2. Experience building and iterating on code review (Phabricator, GitHub), automation test infrastructure (unit, integration, E2E), and build systems (Bazel / buck)
3. Strong knowledge of backend development, distributed systems
4. Strong motivation to grow and continuously develop new skills
5. Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are necessary to tackle complex challenges
