Duties: Design and support physical network architecture including hardware platform identification and qualifications, requirements for site planning, and path and circuit diversity within metro and continental scopes. Design and support logical network architecture to include differentiated services such as global and peering routing policies, rate limiting (QoS/CoS), traffic engineering, layer 2 and 3 VPNs and tunneling (MPLS, IPSec, etc.), and CGNAT. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to establish and maintain network performance characteristics and SLOs during initial architecture requirements and in a continual manner. Meet product requirements through creation of network performance limits and planning and upgrades within logical or physical layers to reflect changing needs. Coordinate and conduct planned maintenance and upgrades, triaging of outages and network security events. Lead mitigation and responses from the networking perspective. Liaise with platform and product stakeholders, security teams, data center engineering and operations, sourcing and procurement, and other teams for creation and deployment of new networks, and problem mitigation and resolution as needed. Lead and manage a team in design and operation of physical and cloud networking. Supervise at least 1 Network Engineer / 15-1241; Computer Network Architects. May telecommute.
Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering (Any), Computer Networking, or related field, followed by ten years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in job offered or in a related occupation.
Position requires:
- Network protocols including dynamic routing (BGP and IS-IS), traffic engineering (MPLS, RSVP-TE, and Segment Routing), and hardware platform capabilities (Juniper and Arista);
- Design and architecture of hybrid networks including data center, backbone, and peering;
- Cloud provider networking such as Google's GCP, Oracle's OCI, and Amazon's AWS;
- Integrate cloud providers with each other and on-prem networks;
- Establishing operational network processes and procedures to support a global business;
- Supporting project and operational improvements;
- Development of network architecture goals and milestones;
- Technical architecture, configuration, and code reviews.
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$241,000 per year - USD$268,000 per year.
