Driving at Dunedin Airport (DUD)

Airports can be complicated places, especially for drivers. But knowing the basics, and getting information in advance about your local airport, can help make sure you’re prepared for your first pickup or dropoff.

Airport regulations

  • To receive trip requests to and from Dunedin Airport, you’ll need to register for access with the airport. To register:
    • Complete a Licence Application for Passenger Vehicles form and accept the Dunedin Airport terms and conditions.
    • Submit the completed copy of the Licence Application for Passenger Vehicles to the Dunedin Airport Administration Office located inside the terminal on Level 1.
    • Once you have submitted your Licence Application for Passenger Vehicles and collected a sticker from Dunedin Airport, you will receive confirmation advising that you’re ready to receive requests at the airport.
  • Pickups may only occur at the Uber pickup zone located outside the terminal exit.
  • Drop-offs can be made in the public passenger drop-off area.
  • Download a copy of the Licence Application for Passenger Vehicles here.

How airport trips work

1. Accepting and taking trips happens the same way as usual.

2. The app will show you where your local airport’s approved pickup or dropoff location is. It might be different from where you’d go if you weren’t driving with Uber; airports sometimes have designated zones for Uber and other ridesharing services.

3. If you’re dropping off a rider, you can ask them if their flight is domestic or international and what airline they’re flying, then you can look for signs that match what they tell you.

Pickups at the airport

Uber has a dedicated pick-up zone at Dunedin Airport. Uber driver-partners may wait for ride requests at the designated pickup-zone.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Enter the pickup zone outside the terminal exit.
  2. As you arrive, just park behind the car in front of you and wait in the area until you receive a trip request.
  3. Once a car leaves, please move up in line to allow another car to park behind you.
  4. When you enter the pickup zone you will be placed in a virtual queue, which means you will receive trip requests based on your position in the queue.
  5. If your rider incorrectly heads to the public pick-up point we suggest politely asking them to proceed to the designated Uber pick-up zone, as Uber pick-ups cannot be made from the public area.
  6. Pick-up your rider and begin the trip as normal.
