Localization Program Manager
About the Role
The Localization team is seeking an experienced Localization Program Manager to help solve Uber’s growing localization needs. In this role, you'll work closely in a cross functional scope, partnering with stakeholders from Product, Design, Content, Engineering, Marketing, Legal, Regional Operation teams and others, to ensure on-time & high linguistic quality for global & regional launches. This is a hybrid position requiring to be in office 3 days a week.
What you'll do:
- Manage end-to-end localization of Uber products and external clients assets across all supported languages including initial planning & consultation, delivery of localized content, LQAs, and bug routing;
- Review and influence product requirement documents (PRDs/RFCs) related to new products/features as well as tools and systems that can improve globalization (g11n) across Uber;
- Manage localization of product, legal and marketing related comms with various assets (surveys, website, contracts, dashboards, etc) across all regions
- Proactively support or suggest internal and cross-functional initiatives to identify areas for process improvements across different teams;
- Identify Localization tool & process gaps and work with Localization Technical Operations to enable efficiencies;
- Work closely with localization vendors and providers, following up during business hours in timezone of regional location, to ensure smooth execution of tasks and on-time deliveries
Basic Qualifications
- BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience
- 3 years minimum of localization project/program management experience within the high-tech industry on the client side
- Familiarity with latest technologies (MT, LLM, GenAI) and their application to localization workflows
- Strong vendor side experience working with fortune 100 companies with enterprise level localization teams.
- Experience with managing budgets and creating estimates.
- Self-directed - ability to take initiative in identifying and solving large problems
- Ability to navigate ambiguity, work independently and be able to chart direction of projects/program, especially while operating in a different region
- Ability to leverage available data to analyze status and make recommendations
- Very detail-oriented, quality-focused and proactive
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to manage and present to multiple and diverse stakeholders across businesses and leadership levels
- Ability to learn new tools/systems quickly
Preferred Qualifications
- Great understanding of localization and internationalization issues
- Experience using CAT tools to manage localization pipeline & workflows (e.g. Idiom WorldServer, Phrase, and Trados)
- Experience managing localization of various content types such as but not limited to UI, HC, Marketing, & Legal
