Global BizOps, Quantitative Senior Analyst
About the Role
The Global BizOps team builds and continuously improves the analytical tools and data foundations that help Mobility teams understand the ground truth of our business. As a Global Portfolio Analyst, you’ll be a hands‑on contributor who helps surface the most important performance signals across our global portfolio and supports senior leaders in making fast, data‑backed decisions.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast‑moving environments, prefers pragmatic analytical approaches over overly complex models, and enjoys breaking down ambiguous problems using clear, simple, high‑rigor methods.
You’ll work closely with senior analysts and regional BizOps partners to investigate performance trends, validate or challenge assumptions, and help ensure our global view of the business is grounded in high‑quality, timely analysis.
What You’ll Do
- Analyze global and regional business performance using statistical and visual analytical tools, surfacing key trends, anomalies, risks, and opportunities.
- Support a “management by exception” model by helping identify which performance signals matter most right now and why.
- Conduct deep‑dive analyses on priority questions and hypotheses, using pragmatic methods (regressions, time‑series, sampling, heuristics) to get to ground truth quickly.
- Build clear, highly curated visualizations and dashboards that simplify complex problems and help senior stakeholders understand what’s happening at a glance.
- Partner with regional BizOps teams to contextualize findings and ensure analyses are consistent, comparable, and aligned with global narratives.
- Maintain and update a structured view of key assumptions, performance drivers, and “big bold questions” (BBQs) that guide ongoing analytical work.
- Contribute to the evolution of our analytical tooling by identifying gaps, proposing improvements, and sharing insights with the teams building our next‑generation data products.
- Develop subject‑matter expertise in the economics and dynamics of Uber’s Mobility business, using this knowledge to strengthen your analyses and recommendations.
Basic Qualifications
- 2+ years of applied experience in a consulting, business operations, and/or a quantitative, analytical, or research‑driven environment.
- Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related STEM field OR foundational experience in statistical modeling.
- Hands-on experience with analytical tools such as Python, R, SQL, and data visualization platforms (Tableau, Looker Studio, etc.).
- Ability to explain complex analytical concepts simply and clearly, without losing the core insight.
- Strong problem‑solving instincts — able to break down ambiguous questions, test assumptions, and move quickly toward a pragmatic solution.
- Comfortable working in fast‑paced, high‑ambiguity environments where speed and rigor both matter.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in quantitative consulting, high‑velocity startups, hedge fund risk/trade support, or other environments where rapid, applied analysis is critical.
- Demonstrated ability to build interactive dashboards or highly curated visualizations that simplify complex datasets.
- Experience analyzing multivariate performance trends or portfolios of assets.
- Examples of applied, real‑world problem‑solving (pro‑bono, research, operational analytics, etc.).
- Familiarity with building or contributing to analytical tooling, models, or frameworks.
