Senior Software Engineer - Fullstack, Engagement Growth
About the Role
Uber Eats has expanded beyond restaurants to support use cases like grocery, retail, and other emerging categories across global markets. The Early User Growth organization focuses on how new users discover, experience, and engage with Uber Eats, working across surfaces, and early journeys to drive sustainable, retentive growth.
We are recruiting for a product-focused full stack engineer who will help develop engaging, user-facing experiences in the Uber Eats app. In this role, you will work closely with product managers, designers, and partner teams to identify growth opportunities, define product requirements, and translate them into scalable technical designs.
You will be involved throughout the full development lifecycle, collaborating with other engineers to implement, experiment on, and release features to production. This role requires strong product judgment, comfort operating in ambiguous problem spaces, and the ability to deliver well-designed, maintainable solutions that meaningfully impact user growth and engagement.
What the Candidate Will Do
- Partner with Engineering, Product, Design, Ops, Data Science, and engineers across multiple teams like Membership, Promotions & Messaging (to name a few) to own features from idea through launch.
- Design and build scalable, reliable systems across web services and distributed systems using sound engineering practices.
- Debug and resolve complex issues across multiple systems to ensure quality, stability, and performance.
- Participate in code reviews, contribute to engineering standards, and mentor junior engineers.
- Good understanding of software experimentation philosophy in the earlier work with an understanding of setting up A/B experiments for hypothesis testing.
- Build instrumentation in the experiments, understand and mine insights, and investigate these to help product with data-driven decisions from experimentation.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field AND 5-years full-time Software Engineering work experience, WHICH INCLUDES in one or more of the following areas:
- Programming language (e.g. C, C++, Java, Python, or Go) and web technologies.
- Building features at scale for consumer applications
- Running A/B tests
- Strong communication skills, experience working with stakeholders including product managers, design and user research
- Ability to learn new technologies and frameworks quickly
- Previous experience with at least one object oriented programming language
- Previous experience designing APIs and collaborating with client engineers (mobile, web)
Preferred Qualifications
- Previously led multiple engineers, teams to develop consumer experiences across a range of platforms and use-cases
- Previous experience designing experiments, and developing measurement strategies
- Experience working on multiple platforms
- Prior experience developing software at a company with a two or three-sided marketplace
- Experience developing experience on Search, Feed
- Previous experience as a strong product engineer and have worked on distributed systems.
For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$202,000 per year - USD$224,000 per year.
