About the Role

The TPM will lead complex, cross-functional initiatives across multiple product and engineering teams, with a focus on resource allocation and collaborative execution. They will drive problem-solving efforts, partner with engineering leads to develop solutions, coordinate delivery across teams, and manage execution using key performance indicators (KPIs). The TPM will also standardize processes, ensure efficient delivery, and uphold accountability by tracking progress, resolving dependencies, identifying issues, assessing risks, and reporting to leadership and stakeholders. Additionally, they will coach teams to stay energized and achieve ambitious goals.

What the Candidate Will Do:

  • Strategic Program Leadership: Own and drive complex technology programs from ideation through successful launch. Partner with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to define program scope, objectives, and key results (OKRs).
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate closely with product, engineering, data science, design, and operations teams to align goals and roadmaps, remove blockers, and provide full visibility into project timelines and status.
  • Stakeholder Management: Ensure all stakeholders understand project milestones, dependencies, risks, and statuses. Offer clear communication strategies, pushing for alignment and timely delivery.
  • Risk & Issue Management: Proactively identify and track risks, create mitigation strategies, and escalate potential issues to leadership when appropriate.
  • Process Optimization: Develop and refine best practices, frameworks, and operational processes that optimize how teams collaborate and ship products. Champion continuous improvement and scaling strategies across multiple organizations.
  • Technical Expertise: Leverage your deep technical background to guide teams in designing reliable, scalable, and secure solutions. Ask the right questions and challenge technical decisions as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical program management or related roles, leading cross-functional teams in fast-paced software, SaaS, or mobile development environments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; high emotional intelligence; skilled at conveying complex technical information and fostering collaboration across diverse audiences, including executives
  • Strong collaboration skills, with a focus on cultivating teamwork and cooperation across teams and departments
  • Demonstrated expertise in cross-team and cross-org stakeholder management, with a proven ability to lead and mentor diverse teams toward shared goals
  • Analytical and objective, with the ability to grasp complex concepts and make well-reasoned decisions
  • Metrics-driven, with experience defining effective KPIs and using them to assess program performance and identify issues
  • Highly organized, capable of managing multiple priorities, identifying risks and process gaps, and balancing engineering and product efficiency against operational overhead
  • Flexible and adaptable, able to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment by adjusting strategies to meet evolving project requirements and shifting business priorities
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to plan, execute, and deliver complex technical projects on time and within budget

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong background in software development, application design, and marketing tech
  • Degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Extensive experience operating within complex organizational structures
  • Proven track record of delivering reliable, scalable systems with deep knowledge of architectural best practices
  • Proficiency in one or more agile frameworks (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) and familiarity with program management tools such as Jira and Confluence
  • Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills across diverse teams and geographies

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$180,000 per year - USD$200,000 per year.

For Seattle, WA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$180,000 per year - USD$200,000 per year.

For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$180,000 per year - USD$200,000 per year.

For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp.
