About the Role
To be a thought leader, you have to have a point of view.
We’re looking for a senior communications leader to help shape how Australia and New Zealand think about technology, mobility, delivery, flexible work and the future of cities. Based in Sydney and reporting to the Director of Communications, ANZ, you will play a central role in a fast-paced press office—proactively driving the narrative while expertly managing issues as they arise.
You’ll partner across Mobility and Delivery, working cross-functionally to build Uber’s brand, protect our reputation and tell compelling local stories that resonate.
What You’ll Do
- Lead Uber’s media profile across ANZ, telling the story of ridesharing, delivery and the future of flexible work.
- Develop and execute strategic narratives and integrated communications campaigns.
- Drive proactive media engagement while managing reactive and crisis communications.
- Act as a trusted spokesperson and senior media contact in a high-pressure environment.
- Partner with global and regional comms teams to align strategy and protect Uber’s reputation.
- Deliver exceptional writing across formats—media materials, opinion pieces, speeches and executive messaging.
- Manage external agencies and coordinate cross-functional stakeholders.
This is a fast-moving role requiring flexibility, sound judgement and comfort operating in ambiguity.
What You’ll Bring
- 7+ years’ experience in communications, media, government or a related field.
- Strong press office experience, including issues and crisis management.
- A deep understanding of the Australian media landscape and established journalist relationships.
- Exceptional writing and storytelling ability, with sharp verbal reasoning skills.
- Experience influencing senior stakeholders internally and externally.
- The ability to simplify complex issues into clear, credible and compelling narratives.
- Confidence operating in high-pressure, high-visibility environments.
- Ministerial or government experience is highly regarded.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) is essential.
This is a role for a strategic thinker and hands-on operator—someone who can build campaigns from scratch, manage complexity with composure, and help redefine how Uber shows up in ANZ.
If you’re ready to shape the conversation, we’d love to hear from you.
