Senior Manager, Business Development
About the Role
The Business Development (BD) team works on some of the biggest and most impactful charters at Uber, including Consumer, Membership, Payments, Travel, Supply, and Sustainability partnerships. We are at the core of the business strategy, giving you the chance to work with global and cross-functional stakeholders.
As a BD team member, you will #SeetheForestandtheTrees (Uber Value) by understanding the big picture of partner selection, the strategic importance of a deal, and the impact it will drive for Uber and the partner.
This is a unique opportunity to own and drive strategic partnerships crucial to Uber's growth in India and the South Asia region. As a member of the Business Development team, you'll play a pivotal role in (1) accelerating the growth of Uber users; (2) increasing the supply available on the Uber platform; (3) increasing Uber's profitability, and (4) accelerating Uber's platform strategy. You will serve as a key member of the Uber Business Development team in helping to drive the overall plan in the region.
What the Candidate Will Do
- Source, negotiate, and implement strategic partnerships in alignment with the business model and priorities
- Evaluate new business development, lead contract negotiation, and influence partners’ senior executives. You will help define the ecosystem of potential partners & develop the value proposition for how Uber can add value to the partner and the prospective customer.
- Identify specific partners to approach, nurture the requisite senior relationships, and effectively communicate Uber’s value proposition and potential partnership opportunities.
- Work with internal teams such as product, operations, marketing, legal, and tax teams to drive successful partnership outcomes. Track and report on key deal metrics.
- Own the existing partnerships and devise innovative constructs to further strengthen the relationship.
What the Candidate Will Need
- 10 years or plus experience in business development, management consulting, investment banking, or strategy work in a large business, technology company, or growing startup.
- Experience with building, maintaining, and leveraging C-level relationships at partner companies.
- Ability to fuse business, strategy, finance, and legal concepts to lead complex, multifaceted deals.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with internal, cross-functional teams as well as external organizations.
- Ability to see the big picture, understand the most important business priorities, and easily adapt to the constantly-changing work environment.
