Business Strategy Lead

About the Role

Build the strategy for the next phase of the ridesharing business in LatAm, creating processes to define LatAm's strategy, breaking down main priorities and enabling execution through an action-oriented strategy and strong prioritization across verticals. Be the main point of contact and gate keeper of LatAm's regional priorities and work hand in hand with Central Operations in order to ensure we are set up for success to achieve our short and long term performance targets.

What the Candidate Will Do

  • Strategic Ownership: Define the business’ short and long term strategy, working closely with and advising business leaders across the company on topics ranging from specific analyses to annual planning to multi-year visions. Identify trends and propose specific actions to tap into opportunities and handle risks
  • Problem Solving & Business Sense: Define business needs and turn ambiguous, real-world problems, into concrete analyses and solutions, using Uber’s rich dataset and external data sources.
  • Thought Leadership: Work with all vertical leaders across LatAm and its subregions to set strategic priorities, align on deprioritization, track performance and share best practices.
  • Own LatAm's narrative: You will be responsible for communicating the strategy, challenges, business performance and main top of mind to get buy-in and support from global leadership.
  • Performance Management Improvement: Identify operational and structural weaknesses and help improve our operational efficiency and data tracking.
  • Stakeholder Management: Foster strong working relationships with COPs leaders and sub regional teams to ensure efficient and productive working relationships.
  • Lead by Example: Be truth-seeking and comfortable with data, set high standards for the team to think boldly and creatively, and then funnel that energy into concrete processes and execution plans. Move fast and be biased toward action.

Basic Qualifications

  • At least 7+ years of investment banking/consulting/strategy or related experience; also high-growth operations or startup experience is very much preferred.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English.
  • Outstanding Communication: Ability to effectively communicate to senior leadership both written (documents, emails, decks) and verbally, proving the ability to synthesize information quickly, highlight the key take-aways, and disseminate meaningful insights.
  • Business Understanding: Ability to balance attention to detail with swift execution. Comfortable with data-driven decision-making, applying experience getting in the weeds of data, balanced with the ability to observe the whole picture
  • Planning & Organization: Ability to effectively lead and implement highly visible, broad-scale initiatives and delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate PoCs
  • Exceptional Excel / Google suite / data skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Balance attention to detail with swift execution: we need to do things quickly, and we need to do them well.
  • Self-starter: the ability to self-serve, investigate and get the data we require will make you much more effective in this role.
  • Grittiness. You never hesitate to roll up your sleeves and address something hands-on, you persevere when others fall away.

Offices continue to be central to collaboration and Uber's cultural identity.
