Engineering Manager II, Merchant
About the Role
As a member of the Merchant Growth team, you will be responsible for building solutions to drive merchant success on the Uber Eats platform. You will work alongside backend and web engineers, product managers, and designers to ship impactful products.
The initiative will focus on helping merchants across segments and lifecycles be the best version of themselves on the platform.
--- What the Candidate Will Do ----
- Build sophisticated identity solutions and scalable distributed systems and technologies to enable Uber to grow its business globally.
- Empower the team to excel in their roles by providing mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities.
- Ensures timely delivery with clear project plan and timelines, which requires exercising judgment to resolve trade-offs between short-term and long-term priorities, managing stakeholder expectations, and working with dependent teams to align deliverables.
- Promote the culture of continuous improvement, emphasizing code reviews, design reviews, and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Drive innovation, definition, deliverables planning (roadmap) and design of entirely new Uber products and features to deliver against team and company goals.
- Monitor and measure launched products and feed learnings back into the product development process.
---- Basic Qualifications ----
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years of management experience leading software engineering teams.
- Strong technical acumen with experience in scalable distributed systems, APIs, and web or mobile platforms.
- Track record of leading engineering teams to successfully deliver complex projects.
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally with Product, Design, and Business stakeholders.

- Advanced Degree: Master's in computer science, engineering, data science, or a related field.
- Experience in working with web and mobile technologies
