Senior Product Manager, AI platform (Michelangelo)

Product Management, Product
Seattle, Washington |
San Francisco, California |
Sunnyvale, California
Full Time

About the Role

Over the past decade, AI - including both classical ML and, more recently, Generative/Agentic AI - has been deeply embedded across Uber’s product portfolio to power seamless and magical user experiences. We leverage these technologies to predict Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) for rides and Estimated Time of Delivery (ETD) for orders, intelligently match riders with drivers, recommend restaurants and dishes to Uber Eats users, detect fraudulent transactions, and power increasingly intelligent experiences across product discovery, customer support, document processing, and internal productivity tools such as coding copilots and on-call assistants, just to name a few.

To support these expanding AI use cases and needs, enhance the ML developer experience, and accelerate AI adoption and innovation across the company, the Uber AI Platform team built Michelangelo - one of the industry’s first end-to-end AI platforms. Developed from the ground up, Michelangelo provides industry-leading tools and capabilities that enable Uber’s AI developers to build, deploy, and manage both classic ML and Generative AI/Agentic applications at scale.

As AI needs continue to grow and evolve, we are seeking an experienced and passionate AI Product Manager with strong technical depth, sharp product intuition, and an entrepreneurial mindset to own the long-term vision, strategy, and roadmap for critical components of Michelangelo, shaping how AI is built, evaluated, governed, and scaled across Uber.

What the Candidate Will Do

  • Work closely with Uber’s ML engineers, applied scientists, data scientists, software engineers, and other cross-functional builders to deeply understand Uber’s AI use cases, identify user pain points and opportunities, and gather product requirements.
  • Set qualitative objectives and quantitative goals, define product requirements, and drive execution with the AI Platform Engineering, TPM, and UX design teams.
  • Internal and external stakeholder management, and make tradeoff decisions based on technical and business insights.
  • Monitor and measure launched products and feed insights back into the product development process to drive growth.
  • Drive platform adoption and enablement across technical and non-technical users, ensuring Michelangelo lowers the barrier to building and scaling AI, especially Gen AI, applications.
  • Clearly communicate product plans, progress, and results to a spectrum of audiences, from internal stakeholders to customer teams, Uber executives, and external ML communities.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Product Management experience delivering highly successful AI products. Experience launching Gen AI applications or agentic systems, from initial conception to launch, is highly preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with a data-driven decision-making approach.
  • A computer science, data science, or other engineering degree equivalent.
  • Thrive in cross-functional environments and work backward from the needs of your customers to create solutions that scale.
  • High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Super strong technical background in the AI/ML space. While coding is not required, you should be comfortable discussing technical AI/ML topics in depth with all stakeholders, including the engineering team, our platform users, and partners.
  • Experience building large-scale AI/ML infra or platform products.
  • Excellent understanding of MLOps, and now AgentOps, industry trends and best practices.
  • Experience working with ML/Data platforms such as AWS Sagemaker, GCP Vertex AI, and Databricks, and AI model providers such as OpenAI and Anthropic.
  • Experience driving platform adoption across large, complex organizations.
  • Bonus: Experience managing open-source projects and communities
