¡Madrid! Your uberPOP is arriving now

Since the beginning of our testing period in Barcelona, we’ve received an outpouring of demand from the people of Madrid — hundreds of tweets and emails, thousands of new signups, tens of thousands opening up the app hoping to find a ride.

We’re thrilled to announce that from today, Madrileños have access to the same efficient, safe and affordable rides as Barcelona (and 200+ other Uber cities around the world). De Madrid al cielo!

IE professor and prominent blogger, Enrique Dans, snagged the first Uber outside of sharing a ride to his Tuesday morning lecture with his friendly uberPOP driver.

uberPOP allows riders and drivers to share the costs — which means whether you’re rushing to a meeting in AZCA, carpooling to the stadium or heading out for midnight tapas,  you get there for less! Sample trips with uberPOP:

During our testing phase, car availability will be limited and ETAs may be longer than usual. Don’t worry — we’re working hard to get more Ubers on the system. Try again after a few minutes and you’ll be on your way!
