You spoke, we listened: Introducing a new call back line for added safety
13 March 2018 / South Africa
Riders across South Africa have expressed the concern to be able to speak to someone in the event of a critical safety-related issue. This is why we’re excited to announce the launch of a new Incident Response Team call-back line for safety-related matters, which is our latest safety and security improvement.
This new line provides riders with better peace of mind, as they will now receive 24/7 access to speak directly to Uber’s Global Incident Response Team should they have a safety-related issue post-trip. You simply need to submit your safety concern via in-app Help, and you will receive a call back in minutes!
How to access the IRT call back line:
- Open the menu of the Uber app, and click ‘Help’
- Click ‘Trip and Fare Review’
- Select the trip in question
- Select ‘I had a safety-related issue’
- Submit the issue, including a contact number and short description of the event
- You will then receive a call-back within minutes
Everyone has the right to be safe – whether you’re on a train, in a taxi, walking on a sidewalk or in an Uber. While no means of transportation can be 100% incident or accident-free, we believe that technological improvements can aid in improving safety while on the road.
While our commitment is to always help ensure rider safety, we strongly encourage you to also use the national emergency line (10111) in the event of a safety-related incident.
