When it comes to ensuring a high-quality experience for both riders and drivers with Uber, we’re always shooting for the stars — 5, to be exact. We take your feedback seriously, and so do driver-partners. It helps correct issues big and small, and maintain a high level of service that sets the Uber experience apart.
But a trip with Uber should be a good experience for everyone. That’s why driver-partners have the opportunity to rate riders using the same 5-star scale… but don’t worry: by following a few simple tips we put together using feedback from Uber partner drivers, you can ride like a pro — with a 5-star rating to match.
WHAT’S IN A NAME?
A lot, it turns out. Want to make sure you’re in the right ride? Simple: just confirm your first name with your driver and ask them to do the same.
*Pro Tip: Be sure to load a profile picture to your Uber rider account. Your profile picture confirms who you are and helps the driver identify the right rider. Looking for other ways to confirm it’s the right ride? We’ve got you covered. The make, model and license plate of your ride will also appear in the app.
TIME IS MONEY
Driver-partners do everything they can to pick you up in under 10 minutes. Please try to return the favour by being ready to hop into your Uber when it arrives. You can let your driver know you’ll be a few minutes late by using Uber’s in-app feature.
*Pro Tip: Even if you needed to be at your location, like, yesterday, please don’t encourage your driver to break traffic laws like speeding or illegal u-turns. They are there for everyone’s safety.
PIN IT TO WIN IT
Yes, we know this might induce more than a few “captain obvious” remarks, but taking a few seconds to make sure your pin is dropped in the right place — or better yet, entering your pickup address — can save time and headaches. Double check the pin is on the blue dot by pressing the little bullseye button located on the bottom left corner of your screen.
*Pro Tip: Entering your destination ahead of time makes everyone’s life easier. That way, all you need to do is get into the car and your driver will do the rest. And, in case you were wondering: driver partners can’t see your destination before accepting a request.
PLEASE DON’T PILE IN
Most cars with Uber can fit up to 4 riders. If you’re in doubt about how many people your ride can fit, use this formula: number of seatbelts = number of riders.
*Pro Tip: Looking to transport a small army? Upgrade to uberXL, which can fit up to 6 riders or UberVAN, which can fit up to 7 riders.
FOLLOW THE (UBER) GOLDEN RULE
Please treat your driver as you would like to be treated and be sure to treat your driver’s car with care. Please don’t smoke, drink or eat on the trip. This not only makes the trip unpleasant for your driver, but for everyone after you as well.
While this isn’t intended to be an exhaustive list of everything you can to do to ride like a pro, following them will help you to have the best Uber experience possible, with a stellar rider rating to match.
