Is it time for that much needed break? While holidays are an exciting prospect, there’s always the question about what extra steps you can take to stay safer during your travels.
That’s why using Uber abroad gives you the same benefits and assurances of using Uber at home. These are just a few of the ways Uber can help you have a safer experience when making use of our in-app safety features.
No need to worry about getting stranded in an unknown city far from your hotel. Uber is available 24/7, which means that you never have to worry about how to get going after the sun goes down! Simply turn on your location data to select a nearby pickup spot and then request a ride. You can also message your driver about your preferred pick-up spot, because your safety is our priority.
Same familiar service
One of the best things about using Uber abroad is that you use the same app to request a ride, no matter where you are. This means you don’t have to ring up a local service or use a different app to get where you need to be. Just do what you always do on the app, and you’ll soon be on your way!
When requesting a ride, you select a pick-up location as part of the process and will be notified when your driver shows up. There’s no standing outside on the street checking each car as they go past – just check the ETA (estimated time of arrival) to know when your driver will show up and then wait safely before heading out to meet them. If necessary, you can also easily change your pick-up location.
We perform thorough background checks on every potential driver before they’re allowed to accept ride requests through the app. When you request a ride using Uber abroad, you can know your driver has been verified by us, regardless of where you are. This also includes their vehicle, which must pass an independent annual inspection to ensure they’re safe to drive.
In addition, you can view your driver’s profile before getting into their car – check out their rating, how long they’ve been driving with Uber and see what other riders have to say about them!
When requesting a ride in another country, you can still share the details of your trip with your loved ones or travel buddies on the app.
Once you’ve requested your ride, swipe up and tap “Send Status”. You can share a link to your trip details, or you can send the info to five pre-selected Trusted Contacts immediately, including your trip details, driver’s name and vehicle registration number.
If you ever feel that you need to get help during a ride, the app also features an emergency button to call local emergency services.
Note: The availability of certain features will vary by region.
Uber believes that safety never stops, no matter where you’re going. So next time you’re heading on a journey, travel safer and with peace of mind by using Uber abroad.
