Have you ever had an unforgettable dining experience? Whether it was from the delicious food or the spectacular service, a positive experience comes from minimal friction throughout your stay. But more often than not, your experience can quickly change in a matter of minutes. That’s why Ziosk, the creator of the first entertainment, ordering and pay-at-the-table tablet for restaurants, has created a way to enhance the user dining experience. Ziosk features a 7-inch tablet and encrypted credit card reader that resides on each table. Each table enables guests to view menu items, play games, view news and entertainment, order food and beverages or ‘pay on demand;’ all in an effort to give guests control over their dining experience.
Today Ziosk announced a partnership with Uber to further enhance the dining experience for their customers, starting with Chili’s Bar and Grill.
“Ziosk is excited to establish a long-term partnership with Uber, as we explore innovative ways to deliver new and relevant content to restaurant tables. We will continue to work together to develop joint incentives and campaigns to bring reliable rides to the millions of restaurant guests in Ziosk’s rapidly growing network.”
—Austen Mulinder, CEO of Ziosk
Ziosk brings on the rides
If you were to break down the customer journey for dining, it would most likely consist of the following stages: pre arrival, dining, and post dining. The Ziosk team understands that in order to create a perfect dining experience, customers must be satisfied throughout each stage of the dining funnel. That’s why the team used Uber’s API to also take on the post dining experience, in order to provide an efficient on-demand solution for getting customers home safely. This is the first time that the Uber API has been integrated into a device that is not a cellular device. Ziosk’s out-of-the box integration showcases how other apps can also leverage our API, even if your device is stationary.
There are a couple different ways that customers can pull up the Uber experience from the tablet. Throughout the UI, guests are presented with a transportation-based trivia question. Upon answering, guests can enter their mobile number to receive a link to download the app on their mobile phones or they can access the Uber portal through the popular Games and Apps section of the Ziosk.

“We will continue to work together to develop joint incentives and campaigns to bring safe and reliable rides to the millions of restaurant guests in Ziosk’s rapidly growing network.”
