Something to remember: “My Uber is your Uber”

At Uber we know that each one of your journeys is part of a story and that those stories connect by as you move around town. To make every trip even better, today we’re updating our Community Guidelines. They now explain the kind of behavior we expect from both riders and drivers when using Uber. As part of these ground rules, for the first time we’re publishing a policy explaining why riders can lose access to Uber—just as we already do with drivers. Respect among all of us who are part of Uber is the most important thing to continue relying on the platform. So every time you use Uber, think about the others. Make everyone feel welcome and remember that “My Uber is your Uber”.

My safety is your safety

Buckle-up, everyone

It may sound obvious, but it is necessary. No matter if you are in the driver or passenger seat, wearing your seat belt is the first step to having a safe trip.

Every rule, every time

As a driver partner, you must follow the local transit laws at all times: speed limits, street signs, turns and stops, and avoid sending text messages while driving. As a rider please don’t ask the driver to break transit laws, nor distract him when he or she is driving.

Night out drinking

Driver partners are prohibited from driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. It is important to take care of the security not only of the riders, but also of the drivers. If you are a rider, even if you come or go to a party, the atmosphere inside your Uber is not an extension of the dance floor, it always has to be respectful and safe.

Mini riders

Children are welcome in Uber, but always accompanied by their parents or guardians. The safety of the children will always be the responsibility of their companions.

Fire Arms

Carrying guns while using the Uber app is prohibited for both drivers and riders. Failure to comply with this rule will be grounds for terminating your account permanently.

Your personal information is protected

When you join the Uber app, you will share personal information when creating your account. This information is safe with us. If a driver-partner or rider misuses this information, for example: contacting you after a trip has terminated, they could lose access to our community according to our terms and conditions.

Your happiness is my happiness

Others first

Here, the golden rule always wins: always treat others as you want to be treated. Be considerate and take care of how you act with others.

Celebrate diversity

We are all different, and that deserves a celebration. That is why it’s important to remember pointing  out or denigrating anyone because of their gender, sexual identity, religious beliefs, political preferences, physical, or social condition is not allowed in the Uber community.

5 star rides

One of the advantages of being part of the Uber community is that among all of us we provide feedback, this helps us to have a better service and to ensure a good trip for riders and drivers. We encourage you to provide honest feedback.

My car is your car

Squeaky clean

Respect your driver’s vehicle. Do not forget to shake the mud off your shoes. Let's be aware that regardless of our place in the car (driver or rider) the state in which you leave the car can mean a negative rating for someone else.

Image

Personal space

Consider the personal space of each of the passengers and driver partners. Remember we all want to have a comfortable trip. If you travel with someone else, remember to give them their space, and if you bring large suitcases and packages with you, we ask you to keep them in the trunk.

My time is your time

All in good time

Nobody likes waiting, and rider’s and driver’s times are equally important. As a rider, try to request your Uber once you are ready and avoid cancellations due to time issues. And if you're going to take a few more minutes to board your Uber, call or text your driver to let him or her know you’re running late. As a driver, if you are going to take more time due to a change of route or some other setback, call or text the rider to let them know and wait for you. Accept the trips you are sure you can take. We know there are setbacks, and it's okay. But the fewer you do, the better your score will be.
