Becoming a driver-partner with Uber puts you in charge. You set your own hours, which means you can drive at times that work for you. Then, at the end of each week, your fares are automatically deposited into your account.. So, how does Uber work for drivers in Trinidad? The driver app gives you complete flexibility over your schedule and allows you to be active on the app when it suits your lifestyle.
Uber is working with its partners in Port of Spain to invigorate T&T’s economy and make our streets safer and less congested, by taking the guesswork out of getting around. We embrace people from all backgrounds with the shared desire to go places (even if just in the most literal sense). We also ensure that our Uber partners offer the most reliable service for riders.
Getting Started
It couldn’t be easier to become a driver-partner. There’s no bambozzle – it takes less than 4 minutes to sign up and, once you’ve been approved, you gain full access to the driver app to start earning additional income. But how exactly do you begin accepting rides? Once you’re in your vehicle and ready to roll, tap ‘Go Online’ in the driver app. A blue bar at the top of your screen indicates that your app is now receiving trip requests. As soon as you receive a request, you’ll get an alert on your phone. To accept the trip request, tap anywhere on your screen within 15 seconds, and you’re good to go.
Picking Up Your Rider
You’ll find the rider at the address of the pickup location, which is indicated by the rider’s icon. If you can’t find your rider when you arrive, simply use your app to call or text them to let them know where you are. To ensure you’re picking up the right person, it’s always a good idea to ask your rider’s name. You can then confirm the destination and ask them about their preferred route before setting off. These considerations can add to a great experience for your riders, resulting in a great rating.
Cancelling a Trip
There are times when you may be unable to meet a rider or complete a trip, in which case you may have to cancel a trip. To do this, tap the menu icon in the top corner to view your current trip. You can tap ‘Cancel’ and the app will ask you to select the reason for the cancellation. Cancelling can affect your partner rating, so it is best avoided.
Mapping Your Trips
The Uber app will provide you with all the necessary information to make your time behind the wheel worthwhile. For instance, the in-app map highlights certain areas of the city in yellow, orange or red. This is to show the areas that have the highest current demand for rides. You can use this info to your advantage and head towards the busiest areas to receive more ride requests. The higher the demand, the more you can earn with surge prices. If you tap the lightning bolt icon at the top right-hand corner of the map, you’ll see the current surge prices in the highlighted areas too.
If you’re looking for freedom and flexibility managing your time, become part of a growing community of drivers and riders in T&T. Sign up as an Uber partner today.
