Uber community in Romania has reached 1 million users. Thank you for your trust, we’ve come a long way since February 2015, when we first launched the service in Bucharest.  Together with our driver partners, we are proud to take you safely to your destination, whether you are from Bucharest, Cluj Napoca, Brasov or Timișoara.

The millionth rider is Ioana, a 27 year old mom from Bacau, who lives in Bucharest. Her first trip with Uber was on May 17th and costed 10 lei. To celebrate the moment, we met with Ioana, offered her 100 trips with Uber and asked her how did she come to use Uber and why.

“I learned about Uber from my sister-in-law, who has been using it for some time, and who always recommended it to me, especially when I was coming home late at night. I used the first time Uber ta few days ago, when I went to an interview. I downloaded the app one day before and I used it the next day. I like the fact that I can see in the application when the car arrives, who the driver is and what car is it, but especially I like that Uber has introduced the cash payment. The drivers are polite and nice, and when I travel with my little girl they are helpful with the baby stroller” said Ioana.

Reaching 1 million users shows that, during these three years, we moved from being a niche service, used mainly by young people, to a service for everyone. We’ve become an important part of the mobility system in the large cities, together with public transportation and taxi. We will do whatever in our power to continue offer a reliable, transparent and trusted service, as we do in other over 600 cities from 77 countries.
