Updates to increase the flexibility and autonomy of delivery partners
April 2, 2023 / PortugalWith the goal of continuing to ensure the autonomy and flexibility of independent delivery partners, starting today in some cities, and with a gradual rollout throughout this week to all cities, we’re introducing changes and new features to the Uber Driver App.

What are the new tools available to independent delivery partners?
Set your minimum rate
The rate per kilometer represents the total fare, excluding promotions, divided by the number of kilometers of the delivery. Determine your minimum rate per kilometer on each order and only receive offers that are equal to or higher than the chosen rate. You can change this rate at any time and as many times as you want.
Uber is committed to fairness and transparency. This means that setting up a lower distance rate does not result in a lower fare than before, for a similar delivery offer. If the delivery offer is equal or above your minimum distance rate, you will still receive the delivery offer fare.
Here’s an example:
- What is the distance rate? Consider a delivery offer where you would receive a total of €3.5 for a 2km delivery. This means that the distance rate of this delivery offer is €1.75 (€3.5 divided by 2 km)
- What happens now? You will be eligible to automatically receive this delivery offer as long as the minimum distance rate you have set in the Uber Driver app is up to €1.75.
How does it work?
- In the Uber Driver app, click on the “Preferences” icon on the main screen, then click on “Set distance rate”, and use the ‘+’ and ‘-’ buttons to adjust your minimum rate per kilometer.
- Once set, you will only receive offers that pay your rate or higher. You can change this rate at any time and as many times as you want during the day, giving you full autonomy. As always, tips are entirely yours and are a separate element from the distance rate you choose. Therefore, tips will be added to your minimum rate per kilometer.
- Trip promotions will also be added to the distance rate you set, as well as any applicable bonus.
- Once you go offline, the distance rate will automatically reset to the default value of €0.10 per kilometer for your next session. Alternatively, click on the “Reset” button to go back to the default rate.
Fare transparency
When you receive a delivery offer, a new offer card will appear on your screen and will give you all the information you need before accepting it. You will be able to visualize:
- The estimated distance of the delivery (or the additional distance in the case of a second delivery you receive on your way to the pickup location).
- The total fare you will receive if you complete the order, which includes trip-level promotions, if applicable. As a reminder, this fare is greater than or equal to the distance rate you set in the Preference hub, multiplied by the estimated distance of the delivery.
- The merchant name and the delivery address.
Based on this information, you have the freedom to accept or reject the offer. Rejecting requests does not have any consequence on your account or on the amount of requests you will receive.

Trip radar
Trip Radar offers you the opportunity to view and select, in a separate tab, the delivery offers around you that were not presented to you automatically. This functionality provides you with more options and transparency, as you can view a larger number of delivery offers still pending acceptance, and decide if you want to accept or ignore them without any impact on your account or on the number of requests you get.
How does it work?
- Click on “Trip Radar”
- On the main screen of the Uber Driver app you can access it by clicking on “Trip Radar”.
- Now, you will be able to see all the details of the delivery offers that are around you, and accept or ignore them if you want.
- Click on your favorite trip

Changes and improvements in the Uber Driver app
- Ratings, Acceptance rate and Cancelation rate: Ratings, acceptance rate and cancellation rate have no impact in your account and this is why they will be removed, which means they will no longer appear in your courier profile, nor will they be shown to users anymore. Please note users and merchants will still continue to report delivery issues to our team, in case of violation of the Terms and Conditions.
- Uber Eats Pro: Moving forward, your Uber Eats Pro tier is only determined by the number of points you are able to achieve in the prior month. Ratings are no longer a requirement to become or remain a Gold, Platinum or Diamond partner.
- Block pairing: You will now have the ability to freely decide who you want to work with and who you won’t by choosing not to receive dispatch requests from specific users or merchants. To do so, you can submit your request to our support team through help.uber.com.
- Substitution: You will be able to nominate someone to deliver on your behalf. You can know more about the delegation process here.
