We’ve heard from driver-partners in New Zealand that you’d like more ways to earn with Uber. This is why we’re launching Uber Big Boot, a new ride option designed to accommodate riders who may need more room for their luggage. This is priced slightly higher than equivalent Uber X trips, to give your earnings a boost!
Vehicle eligibility requirements:
If you drive an eligible SUV or a van with over 500L of boot space, which meets all other UberX vehicle requirements, you may be eligible to earn with Uber Big Boot. Find out if your vehicle is eligible here.

Uber Big Boot is currently available in New Zealand only.
- Am I eligible to take Uber Big Boot trips?
- You may be eligible to complete Uber Big Boot trips if you drive an eligible SUV or van with over 500L of boot space (which meets all other UberX vehicle requirements).
- Find out if your vehicle is eligible here.
- Eligible driver-partners have been automatically opted in to receive Uber Big Boot trip requests from riders.
- I have an eligible vehicle but I cannot view any Uber Big Boot trip requests, how can I opt in?
Please contact Uber Support if you believe you should be eligible but haven’t been able to find “Uber Big Boot” in your trip preferences.
- Can I opt-out of receiving these trip requests?
- Driver partners can modify the trip types they would like to receive for a vehicle by following these steps:
- Tap the toggle icon in the lower left corner of the app home screen
- Scroll to the right to see all the products available to you
- Tap the type of trip requests from riders you’d like to receive while you’re online
- Tap the trip type off to stop receiving this type of trip request - this will affect the number of trip requests you receive
- To reset your filters and receive all trip types, tap reset
- Driver partners can modify the trip types they would like to receive for a vehicle by following these steps:

You will receive higher fares from riders on Uber Big Boot trips than on equivalent trips taken using the Uber X option
